In today's chilling episode, Candace takes us into the dark saga of Juana Barraza, infamously known as "La Mataviejitas" or The Little Old Lady Killer. After experiencing a rough childhood, she cast a shadow of terror over Mexico City in the 1990s-2000s. Barraza, a luchadora by night, turned into one of Mexico's most notorious serial killers, targeting elderly women. Her modus operandi was as cunning as it was brutal; she would gain the trust of her victims by posing as a government official offering social assistance, only to later strangle them with objects found within their homes. The cruelty of her crimes shocked the nation, as Barraza, a woman, exploited society's most vulnerable.
Her arrest in 2006 brought an end to a macabre spree that claimed the lives of nearly 40 women, mothers, sisters, and daughters. This story not only highlights the depravity of one individual but also exposes the systemic failures that allowed her to operate unchecked for years.
