From the early 1970s to the early 1980s, Hansen hunted women in the Alaskan wilderness, abducting them, flying them into the wild with his private plane, and then releasing them only to hunt them down like animals. He is believed to have raped and murdered at least 17 women, with authorities suspecting the number could be higher. Hansen’s capture in 1983 was a pivotal moment in Anchorage’s history.
