27 NOV 2024 · Richland Gives Marks its 10th Anniversary
MANSFIELD –This is the 10th anniversary of Richland Gives, an online giving event hosted by the Richland County Foundation (RCF).
This year donors will notice lower fees at 2.9%. The RCF Board of Trustees voted to cover the 4% platform fees.
Since its inception, Richland Gives has raised almost $3M for hundreds of local nonprofit organizations.
Thanks to the generosity of donors of the Foundation, $80,000 in incentives will be awarded as grants to participating organizations, beyond what they raise from online donations.
Richland Gives is designed to encourage people to contribute to local nonprofits they care about through a single giving website.
The Foundation hosts the day to build capacity, grow philanthropy and make the community stronger.Each organization will have an individualized web page to promote their cause.
The success of the event will depend on our collective enthusiasm and implementation.Leading up to the event the Foundation provides an online toolkit, webinars, mass media and social media coverage to make it easier for nonprofit organizations to participate.
The Richland Gives donation period is from November 18 at 7 a.m. through December 3 at 7 p.m.

7 NOV 2024 · Marc Hartz, sportswriter for the Shelby Globe, phoned into WMAN on Thursday to preview the Shelby girls volleyball team playing in the state semi-finals on Thursday, November 7th. The appearance in the final four is the first time in 34 years for Shelby, and just the 3rd time ever in school history.
Hartz shared on the recent success for several of the Shelby teams and individuals over the last calendar year - including the football team, boys basketball, cross country and tennis.

5 NOV 2024 · Richland County Board of Elections director, Matt Finfgeld, joined WMAN on Tuesday morning, Election Day, to preview what is on the ballot in the county. Matt shares about how many workers are needed for the general election in Richland County, along with predicting around a 70% turnout locally. Finfgeld told WMAN, early voting in Richland County was 37%, which was just over 29,000. There are 80,000 registered voters in Richland County.

MANSFIELD, Ohio - Richland Public Health in collaboration with Avita Health Systems, Cleveland Clinic, OhioHealth, and Third Street Family Health Services will hold a FREE Community Health Day on October 11 at Richland Public Health located at 555 Lexington Ave. Mansfield, OH 44907. The event will feature free/low cost health screenings as well as resources, education, and giveaways from numerous local organizations from 9:00am to 3:00pm.
The health screenings will be provided by local healthcare experts and include:
- Mammograms
- Flu, pneumonia, RSV, Shingles, and COVID-19 vaccines
- Reduced fee blood screens (from 9:00am-12:00pm only) for PSA, A1C, CBC, Lipid, Vitamin D, and TSH
- HIV testing
- Hepatitis C testing
- Blood pressure
- Blood sugar
All screenings are on a first come first serve basis. However, mammograms can be scheduled ahead of time to guarantee an appointment. 19 SET 2024 · Scott Rose, Shelby School Board President, joined WMAN to share the news about the Press Box at the Whippet Athletic Complex named in honor of Chuck Ridenour.
The Shelby School Board on Monday night announced the Press Box at the Whippet Athletic Complex will be named in honor of Chuck Ridenour.
Chuck, who worked for the Shelby Globe, spent over 40 years writing stories about Shelby student athletes. Ridenour won several awards for his writing and was inducted into the Ohio Prep Sportswriters Hall of Fame back in the spring.
The Shelby School Board said, the district wants to honor Chuck Ridenour for his lifelong devotion to Shelby and tireless efforts to promote Shelby student athletes.
Ridenour passed away in December of 2022 at the age of 61, following a lengthy battle with various health issues.
