But when we are dealing with our unaddressed traumas, the same saying still applies. Today's topic will discuss an overview of what trauma is and how it affects us; physically, cognitively, and emotionally. When we are dealing with our unaddressed traumas, we attract those that are on the same wavelength and speak the same language.

28 APR 2019 · In today's episode of the Generation of Silence segment, the topic of discussion will be about Society's Perception of Child Sexual Abuse. Child abuse/sexual abuse does not limit itself to just one gender or race. Everyone is susceptible to it! The primary focus is on the African American household and how this has had its affects on us since slavery. Two key points of discussion will be: 1. Kids' needs come last. 2. Girls are weak, boys are strong. When listening to outside influences such as other kids, society, and media, the messages being sent out are: a) Kids are expendable b) Men's needs matter most. and c) Blacks are viewed as inferior.
27 FEB 2019 · Today's episode will focus on Parents and Caregivers that battle with depression. When working with youth and their behaviors, often times the caregivers (i.e. parents, guardians, aunts, grandmothers,etc.) battle with depression that goes overlooked. Growing up as a child, it is never realized because our parents or caregivers may not often show it because it can be perceived as a sign of "weakness". Parents and caregivers' priority shift to the needs and well-being of their children or loved one; often overlooking and neglecting their own mental health needs and self-care. The sacrifices of parents and caregivers own physical, emotional, and mental health needs often create the feelings of anger, isolation, sadness, anxiety, exhaustion and guilt. Many times, these emotions and feelings get suppressed. The assumption that these emotions and feelings come with the territory of being a parent or caregiver cannot be treated and helped is quite untrue. Lastly, just a few quick tips to assist with combating caregiver-related depression.

Known as a mental disorder, Social Anxiety has its rotts in fear of social rejection and judgment of others. When dealing with social anxiety, we avoid any social situations that may provide embarrassment and perceived humiliation. Thus in turn, this leads to isolation and overall loneliness. Social Anxiety may lead to Panic Attacks as well. One of the ways to help combat Social Anxiety is therapy.
