Story Transcript:

En: Ole was a man who lived in Bergen.

En: It is known as the city between the seven mountains, the city with the fish market, and for the rain.

Nb: Nå var det regn, mye regn.
En: And now it was raining, a lot of rain.

Nb: Og Ole, han var fanget i det.
En: And Ole, he was trapped in it.

Nb: Ole hadde glemt paraplyen sin hjemme.
En: Ole had forgotten his umbrella at home.

Nb: Han stod midt i byen, hans våte klær klistret seg til kroppen hans.
En: He stood in the middle of the city, his wet clothes clinging to his body.

En: The trees hung heavy with water, and the streets turned into rushing streams.

Nb: Ikke en eneste taxi.
En: Not a single taxi.

En: He was trapped, with no way out.

En: He started walking, but it felt like the rain was getting stronger.

Nb: Trinn for trinn gikk han, mens vannet strømmet nedover gatene.
En: Step by step he walked, while the water rushed down the streets.

Nb: Gatelysene skimret i vannspeilet på bakken.
En: The streetlights shimmered in the water mirror on the ground.

Nb: Han så et lys i det fjerne, det var en kafé.
En: He saw a light in the distance, it was a café.

En: With every step he took, the light became more tangible.

Nb: Han rasket seg over gaten, over bekken som var blitt av fortauet.
En: He hurried across the street, over the stream that had become the sidewalk.

En: When he finally reached the door, he was drenched.

En: The café was warm and cozy, with the smell of coffee and freshly baked buns.

En: He took off his jacket, which had merged with the rain outside.

En: He was greeted by a friendly woman who smiled at him.

En: She gave Ole a warm blanket and a cup of steaming hot coffee.

En: He sat there, looking out at the rain through the window.

Nb: Etter hvert stoppet regnen.
En: Eventually, the rain stopped.

En: The streets quieted down and the harsh sounds of rain floated away in the silence.

En: Steam rose from the wet streets, while the sun made its way through the clouds.

En: Bergen, the city between the seven mountains, was beautiful as always.

En: He had survived, trapped in the rain, without an umbrella.

En: He looked up at the sky, where the rain had purged the air.

Nb: Han følte seg takknemlig for regnet, for kaféen, for pleddet, for kaffen.
En: He felt grateful for the rain, for the café, for the blanket, for the coffee.

Nb: Siden den dagen, glemte Ole aldri paraplyen.
En: Since that day, Ole never forgot his umbrella.

En: But he had learned that even in the hardest rain, there is always a café, a warm blanket, and a cup of coffee waiting for him in Bergen.
