Story Transcript:

Nl: Femke, Thijs en Bram liepen op het fietspad in Amsterdam.
En: Femke, Thijs and Bram walked on the bike path in Amsterdam.

Nl: Ze hadden net zakken vol stroopwafels gekocht op de markt en wilden terug naar huis.
En: They had just bought bags full of stroopwafels at the market and wanted to go home.

Nl: Bram zei: "We moeten op één fiets passen om ze mee te kunnen nemen."
En: Bram said, "We have to fit one bike in order to take them."

Nl: Thijs en Bram meten hun lichaamslengte en beslissen om elk op de zijkanten van de fiets te zitten zodat Femke in het midden kan zitten en de zakken met stroopwafels kan vasthouden.
En: Thijs and Bram measure their height and decide to sit on the sides of the bicycle so that Femke can sit in the middle and hold the bags of stroopwafels.

Nl: Femke klom op de fiets terwijl Thijs en Bram aan weerszijden gingen zitten.
En: Femke climbed on the bike while Thijs and Bram sat down on either side.

Nl: Het leek op de beroemde acrobatenshow die ze ooit hadden gezien op televisie.
En: It resembled the famous acrobat show they had once seen on television.

Nl: Maar ze waren niet zo lenig als de acrobaten.
En: But they weren't as agile as the acrobats.

Nl: Femke hield de zakken met stroopwafels voorzichtig vast terwijl Thijs en Bram worstelden om hun evenwicht te behouden.
En: Femke carefully held the bags of stroopwafels while Thijs and Bram struggled to keep their balance.

Nl: Ze waren allemaal zenuwachtig en lachten zachtjes.
En: They were all nervous and laughing softly.

Nl: Maar tijdens hun rit, begint Thijs te wankelen.
En: But during their ride, Thijs starts to falter.

Nl: "Pas op Thijs!"
En: "Watch out Thijs!"

Nl: schreeuwden Femke en Bram.
En: shouted Femke and Bram.

Nl: Thijs probeerde te stabiliseren, maar het gewicht van de stroopwafels veroorzaakte een onbalans en Thijs viel van de fiets.
En: Thijs tried to stabilize, but the weight of the stroopwafels caused an imbalance and Thijs fell off the bike.

Nl: Thijs schreeuwde het uit van de pijn en toen Bram wilde helpen, struikelde hij ook en viel op Thijs.
En: Thijs cried out in pain and when Bram wanted to help, he also tripped and fell on Thijs.

Nl: Femke probeerde de zakken met stroopwafels vast te houden terwijl ze Thijs en Bram boven zich knelde.
En: Femke tried to hold the bags with stroopwafels while she squeezed Thijs and Bram above her.

Nl: Femke gaf de zakken met stroopwafels op en begon Thijs en Bram voorzichtig overeind te helpen.
En: Femke gave up the bags of stroopwafels and carefully started helping Thijs and Bram to their feet.

Nl: De straat om hen heen begon zich langzaam te vullen met mensen die naar hen toe kwamen om te zien wat er gebeurd was.
En: The street around them slowly began to fill with people coming to see what had happened.

Nl: Thijs en Bram hadden alleen wat blauwe plekken en Femke had de zakken met stroopwafels verloren.
En: Thijs and Bram only had some bruises and Femke had lost the bags of stroopwafels.

Nl: Maar ze hadden ook beseft dat ze een grotere fiets of een andere manier van vervoer nodig hadden als ze meer stroopwafels wilden kopen.
En: But they had also realized that if they wanted to buy more stroopwafels, they would need a bigger bicycle or another mode of transport.

Nl: Terug naar huis, zonder stroopwafels maar met veel lachen, waren ze alle drie blij dat ze weer op een normale manier naar huis konden.
En: Back home, without stroopwafels but with a lot of laughter, all three were happy to be able to go home in a normal way again.

Nl: Ze zouden nooit meer proberen om op één fiets te passen met een zak stroopwafels.
En: They would never again try to fit one bike with a bag of stroopwafels.

Nl: Hun toekomstige reizen waren allemaal veilig en comfortabeler.
En: Their future journeys were all safe and more comfortable.
