Story Transcript:

Uk: Київ заворожує своєю старовинною красою разом з агітованим багаттям сучасності.
En: Kyiv captivates with its ancient beauty along with the agitated fires of modernity.

Uk: Так ось, на одній із його заплутаних вуличок, біля кафе "Верховина", стояв Іван.
En: So, on one of its tangled streets, near the "Verkhovyna" cafe, stood Ivan.

Uk: Молодий чоловік, укомплектований гарною постаттю й приємним оскалом, він готувався до важливої зустрічі.
En: A young man, equipped with a handsome figure and a pleasant smile, he was preparing for an important meeting.

Uk: Іван брав глибокий вдих, закриваючи очі й намагаючись згадати той вірш, який він був вивчив на зустріч.
En: Ivan took a deep breath, closing his eyes and trying to remember the poem he had memorized for the encounter.

Uk: У його руках кружляла обкладинка книги Тараса Шевченка, а в думках було похохотівше.
En: In his hands spun the cover of Taras Shevchenko's book, and his thoughts were laughter-filled.

Uk: З-за кута з'явилася її постать: довге руде волосся, картатий плащ, рожеві щоки.
En: Her figure appeared from around the corner: long red hair, a checkered coat, rosy cheeks.

Uk: Вікторія.
En: Victoria.

Uk: Серце Івана зробило ще один більш сильний стукіт, і він вийшов їй назустріч.
En: Ivan's heart made another stronger beat, and he stepped forward to meet her.

Uk: "Вікторія," почав він трохи невпевнено, "я підготував для тебе щось особливе.
En: "Victoria," he began, a little uncertainly, "I have prepared something special for you."

Uk: " Він почав декламувати, погляд вкопаний у її очі.
En: He began reciting, with his gaze fixed on her eyes.

Uk: Але замість глибокого й мелодійного Шевченка, приглушений гамір думок перетворив його вірш на список продуктів: "Олія, молоко, хліб, яйця, і, гм.
En: But instead of the deep and melodious Shevchenko, the muffled noise of thoughts transformed his poem into a grocery list: "Oil, milk, bread, eggs, um...

Uk: картопля.
En: potatoes."

Uk: "Іван розчулився, очі в нього запливли.
En: Ivan was moved, his eyes welled up.

Uk: Але замість того, щоб відвернутися від нього, Вікторія розсміялася.
En: But instead of turning away from him, Victoria laughed.

Uk: Вона його зупинила, доторкнулася до його руки й сказала: "Це було незвичайно, Іване.
En: She stopped him, touched his hand, and said, "That was unusual, Ivan.

Uk: Але це було справжнім та людським.
En: But it was genuine and human.

Uk: Я насправді ціную це.
En: I truly appreciate it."

Uk: "Іван зітхнув з полегшенням, м'яко відповівши: "В такому випадку, ти б хотіла піти зі мною на базар?
En: Ivan sighed with relief, gently responding, "In that case, would you like to go to the market with me?"

Uk: "Щасливі й доволі й покинули кафе разом, Іван доводячи до кінця свій сміливецький вчинок, коли його неловко висловлений вірш обернувся несподіваним, але приємним поворотом.
En: Happily and contentedly, they left the cafe together, Ivan bringing his bold act to a successful conclusion when his awkwardly expressed poem turned into an unexpected, yet pleasant, turn of events.
