Story Transcript:

Ja: たけしのスニーカーが駅のコンクリートをうねるように鳴らしながら、深夜の静寂を破っていた。東京の地元駅、豊洲はこの時間になると人々の気配がほとんどなく、たけしと月明かりだけがホームを照らしていた。
En: Takeshi's sneakers echoed like ripples on the concrete of the station, breaking the silence of the late night. At Tokyo's local station, Toyosu, there were hardly any signs of people at this time, with only Takeshi and the moonlight illuminating the platform.

Ja: たけしの心は焦りと興奮でいっぱいだった。「あの特定の自動販売機のある商品は、ここでしか手に入らないんだ…」彼の脳裏には、その自動販売機の隣に座る、 やわらかく輝くダイヤモンドのような彼女の笑顔が浮かんでいた。
En: Takeshi's heart was full of both impatience and excitement. "That specific item in that vending machine can only be found here..." In his mind, he could see her soft, radiant smile like a diamond sitting next to that vending machine.

Ja: たけしは足早に列車とプラットフォーム間の隙間を乗り越え、まっすぐにコーラの自動販売機に向かった。ただ一つ、幸運のおまじない、それが彼女の大好きな「苺ミルク」色の缶ジュースであった。
En: Takeshi briskly crossed the gap between the train and the platform and headed straight to the cola vending machine. There was only one good luck charm he believed in - her favorite "strawberry milk" colored canned juice.

Ja: しかし、自動販売機は無情にも「売り切れ」の赤いランプをたけしに見せつけた。彼の心は地面に落ち、一瞬で絶望に包まれた。
En: However, the vending machine mercilessly displayed a red "sold out" light to Takeshi. His heart plummeted to the ground, engulfed in despair in an instant.

Ja: そんな彼を見かねた清掃員のおじさんが、尋ねた。「何か探してるのかい？」
En: Seeing him like that, an elderly janitor asked, "Are you looking for something?"

Ja: たけしはぎこちなく「苺ミルク」色の缶ジュースを探していると話した。すると、清掃員はにっこり笑った。「それなら、裏の倉庫に在庫があるよ。ちょっと待っていてくれ。」
En: Takeshi awkwardly explained that he was looking for the "strawberry milk" colored canned juice. The janitor smiled and said, "In that case, we have some in the back warehouse. Just wait a moment."

Ja: 心からの感謝で清掃員にお辞儀をし、たけしは待つことにした。彼の心に再び希望の光がともった。
En: Thanking the janitor from the bottom of his heart with a bow, Takeshi decided to wait. Hope once again lit up in his heart.

Ja: 数分後、清掃員が「苺ミルク」色の缶ジュースを手に戻ってきた。たけしの顔には、幸せそうな笑顔が広がった。「ありがとう、これがあれば彼女も喜んでくれるはずだ！」とつぶやきながら、たけしは再び静寂を破る駅を離れて行った。
En: A few minutes later, the janitor returned with the "strawberry milk" colored canned juice. A happy smile spread across Takeshi's face. "Thank you, she will surely be happy with this!" he murmured as he departed from the station, breaking the silence once again.

Ja: 深夜の豊洲駅には、再び静けさが戻る。ただ一つ、夜空を見上げる清掃員のおじさんの笑顔だけが月明かりに照らされていた。
En: The late-night Toyosu Station returned to its quiet state. The only thing illuminated by the moonlight was the janitor's smile as he gazed up at the night sky.
