Two years ago I first hooked up with Redd to talk about this new vibration of Rap stemming from the soul of Detroit. We spoke openly about the challenges that linger in what used to be this nation's most productive city. Rather than hide from the collected stories of chapters already lived Redd put his poetry to the beats of the street. It began generating talk. Within months his openness to collaborate with other singer/songwriters created a community of brilliant displays of sound. On his new song She Said, he not only teams up with newcomer Rocky but Redd delivers some extremely attractive vocals that perfectly wrap them self around her story of saying he's not to blame, it's her thing. A new age of Hip Hop in the way that both artists didn't follow the stereotypical rule of vocal poetics followed by a song hook. The journey through the song is totally a new age love ballad perfectly ripe for soon to be cold deep freeze winter in Detroit.
