Lv: Artūrs un Laima viens otru gadījuma kārtā satiekas Rīgas Centrāltirgū.
En: Arturs and Laima coincidentally meet at the Riga Central Market.

Lv: Rudens ir klāt, un tirgus pilns ar svaigiem, krāsainiem dārzeņiem, tostarp arī ar dažādiem marinējumiem.
En: Autumn has arrived, and the market is full of fresh, colorful vegetables, including various pickled products.

Lv: Laima, kura tāpat kā visas Latvijas meitas, uzskata sevi par lielisku gurķu marinētāju, ar smaidu pieeja gurķu tirgotājam.
En: Laima, like all Latvian girls, considers herself an excellent pickler, and with a smile, she approaches the cucumber vendor.

Lv: Artūrs blakus ierauga Laimu un atceras kādreiz dzirdēto teiku par viņas brīnišķīgajiem marinējumiem.
En: Arturs notices Laima next to him and remembers the tale about her wonderful pickles.

Lv: "Sveika, Laima!
En: "Hello, Laima!

Lv: Ko tu šodien gatavojies iegādāties?
En: What are you planning to buy today?"

Lv: " vaicā Artūrs ar interesi.
En: Arturs asks with interest.

Lv: Laima atbild ar smaidu, viņas acīs pīkst asara: "Šodien es gatavojos iegādāties gurķus saviem marinējumiem.
En: With a smile and a glint in her eyes, Laima replies: "Today I'm planning to buy cucumbers for my pickling.

Lv: Bet vai zini, Artūr?
En: But you know, Arturs?

Lv: Es esmu tik pārliecināta par savām prasmēm, ka esmu gatava uzaicināt tevi uz gurķu ēšanas sacensībām!
En: I am so confident in my skills that I'm willing to invite you to a cucumber-eating contest!"

Lv: "Artūrs apjuka, bet lepns un nedaudz paķircināts par tādu izaicinājumu, uzņēmās to.
En: Arturs is taken aback, but proud and a bit amused by such a challenge, he accepts it.

Lv: Viņš smējot atbild: "Lai gan tevi šeit labi pazīst, es pieņemu izaicinājumu.
En: Laughing, he responds, "Although you are well known here, I'll accept your challenge.

Lv: Parādisim, kurš no mums ir īsts gurķu ēdājs!
En: Let's see who the real cucumber eater is!"

Lv: "Sacensības norisinās tirgus centrā un piesaista daudzus zinātkāros tirgus apmeklētājus.
En: The contest takes place in the center of the market and draws many curious market visitors.

Lv: Laima un Artūrs abi nostājas pie garas galda, uz kura kārtīgi izlikti marinētie gurķi.
En: Laima and Arturs both stand at a long table, upon which carefully arranged pickled cucumbers are displayed.

Lv: Sākas sacensības.
En: The competition begins.

Lv: Gurķi pazūd viens pēc otra.
En: The cucumbers disappear one after another.

Lv: Sākumā abi pretinieki ir līdzvērtīgi, bet drīz vien kļūst skaidrs, ka Artūrs ir īsts gurķu ēšanas meistars.
En: At first, the two contenders are evenly matched, but soon it becomes clear that Arturs is a true master of cucumber eating.

Lv: Viņš ar neticamu vieglumu šķietami bez piepūles ritina gurķus lejā aiz kakla.
