Lamont Ramos joined the Crips at a young age, which landed him in a juvenile detention center for two and a half years. Soon after his release, he moved to Utah to be with his family and to pursue an athletic career in high school and college, even gaining attention from multiple universities for his athletic skills. He was on the fast track to a better life, but that all came crashing down when he fell back on his old ways and got involved with the gang lifestyle and drugs; he spiraled out of control. Coupled with the divorce of his parents and his new drug addictions, he found himself wandering the streets and living in a nightmarish reality day after day. Listen to Lamont tell his story about narrowly avoiding death and turning his life around to be the better man he is today.
“I started to use the Oxy 80s and the Cocaine more and more and more. When the Oxies ran out, one of my friends, I went over to his house and he was smoking something and at the time I didn’t know, but it was heroin. Instantly I was addicted. I felt great, like this self confidence, this false sense of pride and ego, and nobody could tell me what to do.” 19:17
