Noiruary rolls on, and this one breaks the rules. Our all-noir month, programmed by Pulp Serenade's Cullen Gallagher, heads to Mexico for Roberto Gavaldón's Night Falls (La noche avanza), starring Pedro Armendáriz as Marcos, a celebrity jai alai player whose massive ego lands him in hot water with mobsters and femme fatales. It's a film that breaks with traditional noir conventions and features a stunning performance from Armendáriz. We dig into the film, Armendáriz's turn, and that stunning climax.
On Seagal's Trevor Gumbel joins Chris Stachiw, the Doctor of Podcasting, to talk Night Falls, Pedro Armendáriz, jai alai, and so much more.
