They are a relapse prevention program that is long term and totally free. Hear in this episode in greater detail how Mark’s path led him from becoming a high school basketball coach to teaching in prison and helping the inmates better their own lives. “The biggest mistake that a prison system makes is they take away choice…in the prison system if you make bad choices, you get the consequences. If you make good choices, you get the negative consequences. It’s just not rewarded.”
“He had such a horrible background, not knowing how to deal with stuff, he became very successful even starting a construction business, and he has all this money–next thing you know he’s a cocaine addict and it’s all downhill from there, and he does a terrible thing. He beats up his wife and gets sent to prison. I met this guy and I didn’t know that. All I saw was a very talented man who had a good heart, I could trust him, he was honest, and I’m goin ‘What’s goin on Charles?’ He said ‘This world we live in is hopeless. Nobody has any hope. Education is about the only thing that provides anything.’” 16:48
