Story Transcript:

Lv: Vienu skaistu pavasara rītu Ansis un Līga nolēma apmeklēt veco Rīgas pilsētu.
En: One beautiful spring morning, Ansis and Līga decided to visit the old city of Riga.

En: The sun was playing on the cobblestones, and birds were singing in the tree branches.

Lv: Bet pirms viņi to pamanīja, Ansis un Līga bija apmaldījušies starp senajām, šaurajām ieliņām.
En: But before they knew it, Ansis and Līga had gotten lost among the ancient, narrow streets.

Lv: Kad jau bija kādu brīdi gājuši, bērni pēkšņi sadzirdēja mīkstus soļus aiz sevis.
En: After walking for a while, the children suddenly heard soft footsteps behind them.

En: They turned around and saw a large grey donkey following them with a curious look.

Lv: Ansis uzjautāja: "Kurš ir šis ēzelis?
En: Ansis asked, "Who is this donkey?"

Lv: " Līga nosmēja: "Varbūt viņš mūs varēs izvest no šī labirinta!
En: Līga laughed, "Maybe he can lead us out of this maze!"

Lv: "Bērni nolēma ēzeli saukt par Jāni.
En: The children decided to name the donkey Jānis.

Lv: Ansis un Līga pagrieza pa nākamo ielu, kur bija mazāk cilvēku, un Jānis sekoja aiz tiem.
En: Ansis and Līga turned onto the next street, where there were fewer people, and Jānis followed behind them.

En: Soon, he became their companion, and the children felt less confused.

Lv: Viņi gāja un gāja, līdz nonāca pie mazas laukuma, kur bija sēdvietas un vecs strūklaka.
En: They walked and walked until they reached a small square with benches and an old fountain.

Lv: Ansis ieteica atpūsties un dot ēzelim dzert, kamēr viņi meklē ceļu mājup.
En: Ansis suggested taking a break and letting the donkey drink while they looked for their way home.

Lv: Jānis dzēra no strūklakas, bet bērni pamanīja karti pie strūklakas malas.
En: Jānis drank from the fountain, and the children noticed a map at the edge of the fountain.

Lv: Ansis, izmantojot karti, atrada ceļu atpakaļ uz iepazīto ielu.
En: Using the map, Ansis found the way back to the familiar street.

Lv: Uz galvenās ielas viņi satika savus vecākus, kuri bija noraizējušies.
En: On the main street, they met their parents, who had been worried.

En: Ansis and Līga told them about their adventure and their new friend Jānis.

Lv: Visi kopā smējās, un ēzelis likās priecīgs, ka bija palīdzējis.
En: Everyone laughed together, and the donkey seemed happy to have helped.

Lv: Vecāki palīdzēja bērniem pateikt Jānim paldies.
En: The parents helped the children thank Jānis.

En: The donkey gently nuzzled them and went back to the streets from which he had come.

En: Ansis and Līga, with smiles on their faces, agreed that the old Riga always has its own charm and surprises, and their adventure ended with happy memories.
