When Lauren Burns was just seven years old, her father kidnapped her and took her from Texas to Jordan.

What followed was an extraordinary international rescue mission involving three American veterans, a hijacked school bus and a dangerous escape across the Jordan River into Israel. But returning home was only the beginning of Lauren’s story.

In this deeply personal interview, Lauren shares what life looked like after the rescue—from living in hiding and fearing her father would return to the lasting “father wounds” that made it difficult to trust. She also opens up about her mother’s remarkable courage, the long process of forgiveness and the faith that helped her find healing.
