Story Transcript:
En: Marko was huddled on an old wooden bench in the middle of Kalemegdan, shaking under the gusts of icy wind.
En: Belgrade was a headache, not the promised land he had imagined.
En: Marko came from a small town, a nest that suffocated in stuffed red pepper pods and dozing sunflowers.
En: There, every path led to every square, every street to every house.
En: Every face familiar.
En: But Belgrade, it was completely different.
En: The bright shop signs and endless rows of facades dizzyingly changed his view.
En: The sounds of trams, buses, and construction machinery blended into a deafening noise.
En: Belgraders, rushing in their infinite number, showed him a million faces he couldn't remember.
En: He got confused again.
En: "Excuse me, sir, could you tell me where Republic Square is?"
En: he asked an old man walking his dog.
En: The old man just looked at him confusedly and pointed in both directions.
En: That's how it went all day.
En: Marko would ask, and the fellow citizens would wave him off, pointing multiple times, some even drawing, but Marko only got more tangled in that huge city maze.
En: Late that night, Marko sat on a bench, surrounded by darkness.
En: He rested his sleepy head on his chest and let blue flame spirals pass him by.
En: "Don't ask where the path is.
En: Every path is the way to the destination in this city," he suddenly heard a voice.
En: He raised his eyes and saw an old man on a bicycle.
En: "Every street leads to every other alley, every building to every other building.
En: Don't waste time searching.
Sr: Само иди.
En: Just go."
En: At that moment, Marko felt the weight lift off his shoulders.
En: He opened his eyes, looked around.
Sr: Клупа.
En: Bench.
Sr: Парк.
En: Park.
En: The sky above him.
En: He knew he was where he needed to be.
En: From that day on, Marko no longer searched for the path.
En: He would just walk.
En: And with every street, every square, he found himself.
En: Belgrade, in its diversity and chaos, was no longer a labyrinth to him.
En: It became his new home.
