The world's 7.9 billion people currently consume more than 1.7 times what the Earth can supply. It is estimated that we will need to produce 70% more food to feed an estimated 9.8 billion people by 2050. With predictions that regions of the world will face increasing flooding, droughts and other negative impacts of climate change that will not only impact crop production, but also reduce the amount of habitable land available for farming, it is clear that if food production is to remain sustainable, new approaches will need to be incorporated both on an international and on a local level and that there is a role for each of us in addressing this potential crisis.

This week we are pleased to welcome Michelle Vergera and Tony Audin of REVIVE, a Costa Rica based initiative that revives communities through collaborative relationships. With regenerative agriculture, producers are not just sustaining the current land resource so that it can continue to be used in the future, but are actually improving what is there, leaving it better for the next generation. We then visit with Nathan Gidge from Gambo Newfoundland and find out about his sustainable food production project called Kingfisher Farms.
