In her 2018 debut collection Light Filters In, teen Instagram sensation Caroline Kaufman (aka @poeticpoison, nearing 200k followers) tackled difficult topics such as anxiety, depression, sexual assault, abusive relationships, first love, the loss of freedom and innocence, and the search for self. Now in her sophomore release, WHEN THE WORLD DIDN’T END, Kaufman explores the shock, wonder, and beauty of an uncertain future with uplifting words on love, forgiveness, self-discovery, and what it’s like living after a hard-fought battle with depression. 19-year-old Caroline Kaufman—known as @poeticpoison on Instagram—began writing poetry when she was thirteen years old as a means of coping with her depression. A year later, she started posting it online, and what started as a personal way to combat mental illness eventually became an account with hundreds of thousands of followers across social media. Caroline grew up in Westchester, New York, and is currently a student at Harvard University. She is the author of two poetry collections: Light Filters In and When the World Didn’t End.
