Cole Munoz grew up in a tight knit family, including great parents, grandparents, supportive aunts and uncles, and cousins. Though a strong work ethic and many basic moral values stuck with him, his need to belong got him hanging around with the wrong crowd and it was all downhill from there. At age 13, he started experimenting with smoking, alcohol, and weed. He was doing OK until he was introduced to cocaine. Then the wheels came off. Listen in as he describes how for much of his adult life, he worked a regular job, but lived a hidden, on-the-side life full of drugs and alcohol. You will hear how the love of his family, who continued to love him without enabling him, drew him back to a full life. He describes how some of the good people he met in prison helped him return to the value-centered road he had learned as a child. Join me as we travel his road back to reality.
“People in prison would say ‘Oh I’ve never tried crack, I’ve always wanted to.’ and I’d say ‘DON’T!’ Coming from somebody who has completely just entangled their brain, it maybe won’t be their thing, but from my point of view, anybody who tries it likes it, and they don’t like it 6 months later. Trust me on that.” 35:27
