Calling All Cars #2, "Burma White Case," a young blonde woman named Burma Adams meets the wrong kind of man at a nightclub and finds herself drawn into a violent crime spree that shocks Los Angeles. Burma's companion is Tom White, a hardened ex-convict fresh out of prison on parole, who introduces her to his brand of big-time criminal operations. What begins as stealing a car quickly escalates into a series of brutal armed robberies across the city. On the night of August 16th, White and Burma hold up multiple victims, culminating in the shooting of Cora Whittington and Cromby Allen when one victim resists.
The horrific attack sends shockwaves through Los Angeles and triggers an unprecedented police response. Chief Davis orders the city's first-ever police blockade, deploying over 300 patrolmen throughout the city to scrutinize every passing automobile. As Tom White continues his reign of terror, switching stolen cars and hitting chain stores, drug stores, and pedestrians on the street, the net begins to tighten. When officers from Radio Car 13 spot a stolen Chevrolet at a filling station and learn it belongs to a mysterious blonde woman, the investigation reaches a critical turning point.
