Story Transcript:

Sv: Lars svettades när han stod mitt i IKEA varuhuset och stirrade på kartongen full av trädelar som nu låg runt honom på golvet.
En: Lars was sweating as he stood in the middle of the IKEA department store and stared at the box full of wooden parts that were now lying around him on the floor.

Sv: Han hade köpt en bokhylla men nekat att använda den medföljande instruktionsboken.
En: He had bought a bookcase but refused to use the instruction manual that came with it.

Sv: Han tittade på kartongen men förstod inte riktigt vad han skulle göra med alla delarna.
En: He looked at the box but didn't really understand what to do with all the parts.

Sv: Han skulle behöva någon sorts plan.
En: He would need some sort of plan.

Sv: Men han ville inte ge upp, han visste att han kunde göra det här på egen hand.
En: But he didn't want to give up, he knew he could do this on his own.

Sv: Lars bestämde sig för att börja med hyllorna.
En: Lars decided to start with the shelves.

Sv: Han satte ihop de två sidostöden och började fästa hyllorna på dem utan verktyg.
En: He assembled the two side supports and began attaching the shelves to them without tools.

Sv: Han lyckades nästan, men sedan föll hela byggnationen ihop som en gammal byggnad.
En: He almost succeeded, but then the whole construction collapsed like an old building.

Sv: Han försökte igen men utan framgång.
En: He tried again but without success.

Sv: Han var tvungen att använda instruktionerna.
En: He had to use the instructions.

Sv: Lars kände sig misslyckad.
En: Lars felt like a failure.

Sv: Han satte sig på marken och tittade ned på delarna.
En: He sat down on the ground and looked down at the parts.

Sv: En kvinna passerade och log sympatiskt åt honom.
En: A woman passed by and smiled sympathetically at him.

Sv: "Gillar du att läsa?"
En: "Do you like to read?"

Sv: frågade hon.
En: she asked.

Sv: Lars nickade och log tillbaka till henne.
En: Lars nodded and smiled back at her.

Sv: "Ja faktiskt."
En: "Yes actually."

Sv: "Det är varför jag alltid lyckas när jag bygger IKEA-möbler," sa kvinnan och skrattade lite.
En: "That's why I always succeed when I build IKEA furniture," the woman said, laughing a little.

Sv: "För jag följer instruktionerna som en bok!
En: "Because I follow the instructions like a book!

Sv: Du borde verkligen prova det."
En: You should really try it."

Sv: Lars nickade tacksamt och öppnade instruktionsboken.
En: Lars nodded gratefully and opened the instruction book.

Sv: Efter en stund hade han byggt bokhyllan.
En: After a while he had built the bookcase.

Sv: Han kände sig stolt och lämnade varuhuset med en känsla av triumf.
En: He felt proud and left the department store with a sense of triumph.

Sv: Första gången han byggde den ensam, men andra gången med hjälp av instruktionerna.
En: The first time he built it alone, but the second time with the help of the instructions.

Sv: Lars förstod nu att det var viktigt att följa instruktionerna.
En: Lars now understood that it was important to follow the instructions.
