Scripture: James 1:19-20
"My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires."

Anger is a powerful emotion. While not all anger is sinful, when left unchecked, it can lead to words and actions that grieve the heart of God. James reminds us that godly living requires a different rhythm—one that listens first, speaks with thoughtfulness, and holds back the quick flare of anger.

Being quick to listen means giving others our full attention and truly hearing them. Being slow to speak calls for discernment and humility. And being slow to anger reflects the patience and grace of Christ. When we follow this pattern, we step away from impulsiveness and move toward peace, understanding, and righteousness.

God desires that our responses mirror His character. His patience with us sets the example. The next time you're tempted to react in frustration, pause and invite the Holy Spirit to guide your response. A gentle answer, shaped by grace, can turn away wrath and build bridges instead of walls.

Today, ask yourself: Am I quick to listen and slow to speak? Do I allow God's Spirit to guide my emotions, especially in moments of tension?

Prayer:
AlmightyFather, help me to reflect Your patience in my relationships. Teach me to listen well, speak with wisdom, and respond with a calm spirit. May my life reflect the righteousness You desire. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
