Nl: "He, Jan!
En: "He, Jan!"

Nl: " riep Anne vrolijk.
En: Anne called out cheerfully.

Nl: Ze wonen allebei in het bruisende Amsterdam.
En: They both live in the bustling Amsterdam.

Nl: Het was een winderige dag.
En: It was a windy day.

Nl: De blaadjes dwarrelden van de bomen en de wolken raasden door de blauwe lucht.
En: The leaves were swirling off the trees and the clouds were racing through the blue sky.

Nl: Jan keek haar aan.
En: Jan looked at her.

Nl: Zijn blauwe ogen straalden van spanning.
En: His blue eyes sparkled with excitement.

Nl: "Zullen we fietsen?
En: "Shall we go cycling?"

Nl: " vroeg hij aan Anne.
En: he asked Anne.

Nl: "In deze wind?
En: "In this wind?"

Nl: " grapte ze terug.
En: she joked back.

Nl: Ze wist dat het een uitdaging zou zijn.
En: She knew it would be a challenge.

Nl: Ze stapten op hun fietsen.
En: They got on their bikes.

En: It was difficult to stay upright.

Nl: Hij trapte hard op de pedalen, maar de wind duwde hem bijna omver.
En: He pedaled hard, but the wind almost pushed him over.

En: "This is tough!"

En: Then it was Anne's turn.

Nl: Ze zette haar voeten op de pedalen en duwde zo hard als ze kon.
En: She put her feet on the pedals and pushed as hard as she could.

En: The wind was strong, but she persisted.

Nl: "Ik kan het!
En: "I can do it!"

Nl: " riep ze boven het geluid van de wind uit.
En: she shouted over the sound of the wind.

En: And then the adventure began.

En: They set off, with the wind against their faces.

En: "That was fun, Jan," said Anne.

Nl: En Jan knikte.
En: And Jan nodded.

Nl: "Ja, dat was het echt," zei hij.
En: "Yes, it really was," he said.

Nl: Samen keken ze uit het raam, naar de rustige straten van Amsterdam.
En: Together they looked out of the window, at the quiet streets of Amsterdam.

Nl: Morgen, denkt Anne, gaan we weer een nieuw avontuur tegemoet.
En: Tomorrow, Anne thinks, we will face a new adventure again.

Nl: Misschien met minder wind, maar zeker niet minder leuk.
En: Maybe with less wind, but certainly not less enjoyable.

Nl: Zo eindigt het verhaal van Jan en Anne, fietsend tegen de wind in.
En: And so ends the story of Jan and Anne, cycling against the wind.

Nl: Het was een heldhaftige strijd, een strijd tegen de natuur.
En: It was a heroic struggle, a battle against nature.
