Q: Is macro eating better than intuitive eating? Which is better?
A: Macro eating is often a better method to ensure proper fuel intake (not under OR over eating!)
Q: Are Kodiak cakes healthy?
A: Kodiak cakes are mainly carbs! They aren't really healthier than regular pancakes. Make a protein pancake instead!
Protein Pancake Recipe:
- 1/2 mashed banana
- 1/4 cup egg whites
- 2 scoops plant based protein powder
- 1 Tbs. almond milk
Mix all ingredients until smooth, then cook in pan with cooking spray over low heat (3) and then flip. Top with nut butter, berries and Lily's chocolate chips.
Q: What's a good substitute for coffee?
A: Ginger lemon tea is great for mornings. When you crave something full-bodied and creamy, try Teecino (chicory root coffee sub)! Make an iced version with 4 Tbs. nut creamer over ice.
Q: What are low-glycemic load fruits and non-starchy veggies?
Apples, grapefruits, cherries and berries are the best fruits to control blood sugar. An apple a day keeps the doctor away!
Q: What are the healthiest fats to eat?
A: Plant based fats! Olive oil, avocado oil, nuts, nut butters, olives and avocado are all excellent options. It's okay to incorporate some animal based fats like salmon in your diet as well.
Q: What do you think about the carnivore diet?
A: I don't believe in eliminating entire food groups. Still try to limit red consumption to no more than 2x per week.
Q: What are helpful mindfulness activities?
A: Mindfulness helps bring you back to the present moment which helps alleviate anxiety. Try using "All the Colors" exercise - by identifying an object from each color. Try listening to music with your eyes closed.
Q: How can I clear up my skin with my diet?
A: While food alone can't heal your skin issues, it can make a big impact. But so can other holistic practices like exercise, sauna, sleep and self-love.
Q: What are some good period tools?
A: Natural Cycles is amazing for cycle tracking. Knix is great period underwear that absorbs your flow. Diva Cup is also amazing to replace tampons.
