Extensive trivia, show background, performer background, hilarious commentary and a scene by scene rundown of all 88 episodes of "WKRP in Cincinnati". Hosted by husband and wife, Allen and Donna Stare. Allen started in radio at age 15 in 1980. When he walked into his first radio station, all he knew about radio came from watching the first two seasons of "WKRP in Cincinnati." WKRP launched a fun and successful 40 year audio production and advertising career...now, it's time to talk about it!!

The Sports Voice of the Ohio Valley is...WKRP? Art's got stars in his eyes as he hires former Cincinnati Reds Manager Sparky Anderson to host his new sports-talk show. A full two hours and, at some point, the plan is to take it coast-to-coast! Syndication! Huge profits and the unending accolades of mama...er, at least that's how Art sees it.
Sparky is a great guy...but not a great talk show host. It takes Art a few days to realize, but he eventually gets the sign from the catcher. Don't miss this very first script from the writing duo of P.J. Torokvei and Steven Kampmann. Derek's hungry, Sparky's going to the phones and Les is trying to undermine the whole thing. Merry Christmas!! Stop looking at the calendar...it's Christmas in KRP-Land and that's all that matters. Remember how weirdly disorienting it was to come across a Christmas episode of a show in syndication?? It didn't matter if it was the middle of July...for half an hour, you got a little of the warmth of Christmas, no matter what time of year. This Christmas, the whole gang seems a bit edgy. Relatives are in town, travel plans aren't coming together and it's almost time for the Office Christmas Party. Jennifer seems very invested in this year's party. Turns out, she's not going home for Christmas. The big office party might be her only chance to celebrate the holiday with 'family'.
When everybody bails on the party after only 10 minutes, Jennifer is NOT happy. Could this possibly really be her ONLY Christmas celebration?? The evening after the big party, the gang is feeling guilty. They stop by Jennifer's apartment...admission: one Christmas Tree. Herb didn't get the memo. It isn't long before Johnny's downing another ladle of eggnog, Venus is trying to get the white out of his beard and Art thinks he's got Mama's Christmas Tree Conundrum nailed. Got your shopping done? Good. You've got time to kick back, hit 'play' and pour yourself another eggnog...if you can get the bowl away from The Doctor.

The entire news department at WKRP consists of a single man: Les Nessman. Truly, he is a paragon among men, a news stalwart who lets nothing deter him from delivering ten brilliant casts a day. Andy thinks it's time to shake things up a bit in the news area...against Les' wishes, and better judgement. They're reviewing audition tapes when a familiar voice comes through the speakers. Bailey Quarters has slipped her own entry into the stack, and Andy thinks having Bailey on the air would be a great idea!
Les keeps pushing back, but to no avail. The new cub takes to the airwaves...er, at least she SHOULD be taking to the airwaves. Nessman doesn't think she's ready...then again, Nessman would be keeping Walter Cronkite on typewriter ribbon duty if it meant giving up a precious second of his airtime. Oil, schmoil...you'd better push "play" because it's almost time for the Swim Meeting.

Art "the Big Guy" Carlson has a big trip planned. He's going bonefishing and his lovely wife Carmen is coming along! Carmen shows up at the station with a little bit of a crimp in the plans. Turns out, she's pregnant. It might have been the Kiwanis Dance, but all signs are pointing towards Superman as the culprit.
Mama shows up and things get a bit heavy when she lays out what she sees as Art's course of action. Art's in a daze, Venus hasn't talked to a soul and the Champagne is cold. Decisions and dancing replace the bonefishing trip. Venus has a lot of questions he really doesn't want answered. Shout! Factory is in there trying, but they totally whiffed a big joke. Is that Potsie at Johnny's desk (not the same Johnny)? You'd better push 'play' before somebody starts to show.

When you're on one of the lowest rated stations in town, it's easy to convince yourself nobody's listening. Johnny's eyes are opened when an off-hand comment about tossing some trash on the city hall steps blows up in everyone's face. How bad is it? Art has summoned the station attorney, Elgar Neece. Elgar is a 4'11" fireball played by Christian Seaborn and...hold onto your microphones fellow babies...we're talking to him!! Elgar...er, we mean Christian...joins us with behind-the-scenes stories and details you've NEVER heard anywhere else! Herb is stuck to Carlson's desk, Johnny's playing pinball and Andy needs to pay the man four bits or he's going to get his clock cleaned.

It's a natural progression for many business executives: once you've conquered the business world, it's time to conquer the world of politics. Arthur "Big Guy" Carlson of WKRP Radio in Cincinnati is one such business executive. Art's been bitten by the political bug! He's ready to steer Cincinnati in the right direction as an esteemed member of the Queen City's Council. Current incumbent Charles "Chuck" Tillman isn't delivering the goods in Art's eyes. He's missing meetings, missing votes and generally NOT doing the job he was elected to do. According to Bailey's old college roommate, Chuck's lack of participation might have something to do with his drinking.
Drinking?! That's a bombshell!! But, come on, they can't use something like that!! Even Bailey, who delivered this news, said they can't use something like that (so, hmmm...why did she SAY it?) There's general agreement it shouldn't be used (Herb's not so sure). Unfortunately, saying you won't use it is one thing...knowing that bit of information while in the heat of the debate proves too tempting. Art blurts it out in anger. Les is getting down in the muck on the phone, Jennifer is racking up the campaign contributions and Mitzi wants to get that stain out!! Haven't voted lately? It's time to cast YOUR vote for Arthur C. Carlson...paid for by The Committee to Elect Carlson...Herbert R. Tarlek, Chairman. Now, do your civic duty and push "play."

Jennifer is gorgeous, cool, aloof, in control and well-to-do. Who could possibly rock her world? His name is "Steel" and, to hear her tell it, he's every girl's dream. It's not until we meet Mr. Night Maintenance we discover he might be lacking in the depth department. Steel definitely has the teeth, the hair and the, uh...derriere...to drive the ladies wild, but the pretty package is very empty.
Vapid and self-centered are acceptable to Jennifer. Lecherous and sponging off her for money...that's another matter. When Steel needs two hundred dollars to fix his van, he discovers Jennifer is nobody's Sugar Mama. Art's ready to step up with a sound thrashing...if only his shoulder was willing. Jennifer tosses Steel out. She'll have to go home alone with nothing but her microwaves and acoustical ceiling to keep her company. You're going to want to go another round with the whitener, maybe do a few crunches, now let's hit "play" and enjoy the pretty people.

'The Monster Who Sold Life Insurance' has run amok in the halls of the Mighty KRP! Fellow employees are fish in a barrel to Herbert. Les is no match for the Monster's persuasive powers. He buys EVERYTHING, including Herb's boat, and he and gets the envelope in the mail! If he hadn't, he might not have been covered in the event of massive Scooter mayhem! Isn't it time for tea? Art wants to have another look at those policies and Les is heading for the hospital. Cinch up your helmet and put on your news poncho. We've got tea to drink and a boat on our tail!! No way Les can back out now. He shook on it! He ALSO bet $200, which might carry more weight than the handshake. Jennifer says she'll play. Once the guys hear she plans to play in her new red short-shorts, suddenly Les has a team. The PIG's good, Station Manager Callahan is a jerk and Andy has the guns greased up to a high shine. [Want to watch along with us? It's a blast!! We highly recommend the 'Shout Factory' boxed DVD set of the entire WKRP series. For reasons you'll have to listen to in the "Prolog" episode, all streaming versions of the original "WKRP in Cincinnati" have had the original music cues removed. Generic music beds and stings were used in place of the original music for the syndicated version of the series. 'Shout Factory' has been able to restore an estimated 85% of all WKRP music cues to the original "as-aired" content for their DVD release. They've also restored scenes that had been cut to shorten episodes for syndication. The original eps ran 25 minutes. The syndication eps were shortened to 22 minutes. Over 88 episodes that's more than four hours of lost content, including the performance by "Detective" at the end of "Hoodlum Rock." Get the COMPLETE series...get the Shout Factory DVDs. The Shout Factory complete series box has a release date of 2014. All individual seasons of Shout Factory disks were released starting in 2015.]
