25 SET 2023 · Host Liz Lawless and Man on the Ranch Charles Flores Hearn will return in the saddle after a short vacation in August. Today, we are back to talking rodeo again as we discuss the final Fall Rodeo Season and thank our sponsors, 4D Excavation of Odessa, Texas, and AJ’s Steel Buildings. Cowboys and Cowgirls are making their last runs of the year, hoping to earn enough points or cash to make the finals at the Rodeo Associations.
Charles has been competing at the rodeos in Fort Worth, Canton, and Waxahachie. He will continue to hit rodeos in Oklahoma, including Sayse, OK, Kellyville, OK, and the JC Knapp Annual Roundup in his quest to reach the finals at The State Fair of Texas.
13 SET 2023 · Host Liz Lawless will be conversing with Living Legends Alex Ewings and Felix Llanos, the founders of The New Blue Collar Fashions.
Alex is a creative who spent time in two worlds—the country and the city. Growing up, he loved spending time with his cousins in Magnolia, Arkansas, and Boynton, Oklahoma, but his heart leaned toward the city. After moving to New York in his twenties, he launched his lifestyle brand, consisting of functional work and leisure wear, and pursued his love for coffee with friends.
Felix Llanos III is an American businessman, investor, and co-founder of The New Blue Collar, a lifestyle brand that offers refined products and apparel. Felix was born in Queens, New York City. He has ventured into logistics, real estate, retail, and fashion, learning about entrepreneurship through his father, Felix Llanos Jr., who started his tax firm, which has been successfully operating for the last 30 years.
Alex and Felix will be sharing some exciting plans for the future about their brand partnership with Wild West Diversity and Cowboys of Color Rodeos.

12 SET 2023 · Host Liz Lawless will talk with Living Legend Champion Bull Rider Charles Sampson, the first African American to win a National Bull Riding Championship. He was the 1982 Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) World Champion bull rider. Charlie is not your average cowboy. He did not grow up in a rodeo family like the Hearns. Sampson was born in Los Angeles, California, on July 2, 1957. He worked at a riding stable near Gardena, CA, to avoid the violence surrounding him as a boy. It sparked an interest in horses and the famous African-American bull rider Myrtis Dightman, the "Jackie Robinson of Rodeo."
Today, Charlie works as a motivational speaker and commercial talent, helping youth understand they can achieve their dreams, whatever they might be, just like he did. In 1996, he was inducted into the ProRodeo Hall of Fame. In 2003, he was inducted into the National Multicultural Museum and Hall of Fame in Fort Worth, Texas. In 2004, the PBR Ring of Honor. In 2008, the Rodeo Hall of Fame of the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum. In 2009, the Ellensburg Rodeo Hall of Fame, and in 2019, the Bull Riding Hall of Fame.
12 SET 2023 · Host Liz Lawless will be conversing with Author RY (Ruby) Burke, who will share her love of horses and her children’s book Yap-Yap: The Talking Horse. This engaging book was born from a story that Ruby used to tell at her children's school. The name came from the nickname she gave her daughter, Taneka because she always talked. Yap-Yap, The Talking Horse is not only a book that teaches children morals and character and builds their imagination, it is also a workbook. The book teaches through a young boy’s experience with a horse he believes can talk. They have all kinds of adventures together. A native of Washington, DC. Ruby began her writing career by releasing her first children’s book, Yap-Yap, “The Talking Horse” in 2008 (republished in 2015). She is also the author of “Survivors, Emancipation Day” 2nd Edition (republished 2014), which contains 20 stories of women who have survived life-changing challenges. In addition to being an author, Ruby is an entrepreneur, a mentor, and a speaker. She is the president/CEO of Children's Book Workshop (“CBW”) and the Vice President/Executive Director of Operations for Sisters in Harmony (“SiH”) with our own Brother Ed Herman. Sisters In Harmony is a web-based Economic Networking Organization (a 501c3 org.) that uplifts and encourages all genders and nationalities, especially positive images of women. Ruby has recently been named the Director of Women and Children’s Empowerment Issues in Kenya and neighboring countries in Africa. Her work with young ladies in self-esteem, goals, dreams, and bullying has earned her this prestigious title and given her the platform to do work that is near and dear to her heart. She is also the proud mother of three adult children.
