28 GIU 2024 · There's a nationwide shortage of teachers, in particular, secondary education teachers, and the Educate the State Initiative has been formed to help addresss that shortage. The new public-private agreement brings together Butler Community College, Cowley College, Friends University, Newman University and Southwestern College. 10 MAG 2024 · Five years ago, well-known Wichita singer-songwriter Jenny Wood was involved in a serious auto accident that resulted in the loss of her mother and niece.  Wichita came to Jenny's support in many ways, and now, Jenny Wood has arranged a special "thank you" benefit concert. Jenny Woodstock takes place Saturday May 18th from 5 to 9 p.m. at Nafzger Park, right outside the I Heart Radio Wichita studios. There'll be food trucks, vendors, live music, and family fun. 3 MAG 2024 · While you and I might look forward to a leisurely spin down the bike path, three Wichita cyclists are riding from Canada to Mexico to support Wichita's homeless. Beginning June 14th, Marty Johnson of Johnson's Garden Center, Tyler Branine of Bicycle Pedaler, and Cassidy Cheray from Vantage Point Financial Group will ride the 2024 Tour Divide for Humankind, an epic 2,745 mile event along the Continental Divide. Their fundraising goal is $100,00 for Humankind. You can donate at the cash register at Johnson's Garden Centers and Johnson's will match your donation. 26 APR 2024 · The NBC Baseball Foundation is proud to announce a special partnership with League 42 and USA Baseball.   The partnership will host a baseball clinic on May 4th for the girls of League 42, instructed by USA Baseball Women’s National Team members Anna Kimbrell and Valerie Perez. Saturday, April 20th, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., they're hosting the fundraiser for Camp Sunflower at Calvary United Methodist, 2525 North Rock Road. Camp Sunflower believes that all young people deserve and need supportive and affirming communities. So they hold camps and retreats for LGBTQIA+ middle and high school youth. Show your support for Camp Sunflower by attending the spaghetti supper!  Suggested donation is $15 ($7.50 for ages 10 and under) including dessert and beverage. 3 APR 2024 · It's an annual event that has literally changed lives!  Models and Images' Model Search is Sunday, April 28th @ the Wichita Women’s Fair. M & I Owner/CEO Gigi Daskalova and three of her models stop by to tell us all about it. All contestants need to be checked in at the M&I Models booth BY 12pm. Model Search begins at 1pm. There is a $25 registration fee that includes:  - Participation in the Model Search - An online training workshop that contestants will receive access to once registering - that covers all of the info they will need to know for the event + some basic runway tips - 2 tickets into the Women’s Fair on the day of the Model Search   The model search is open to anyone ages 5 and up.
