Preparation is done reading through forecast discussions from the 5 national weather service offices that cover the marine synopsis for the great lakes. Additional offices used include several more cities depending on where the storm in question will be developing. The computer models as advertised on Windy.com are used in the preparation as well with an emphasis on the European model.
Yad Hashem is very apparent through the information provided when making a weather forecast. In addition, weather forecasting itself reveals this as well. Recently, this is a topic that has been explored.

St.Louis is included in this. As of Sunday evening May 18th a tornado watch and severe thunderstorm watch covered a very large portion of the plains.

14 MAG 2025 · Information contained in this episode comes from the National Weather Service forecast discussions of several Midwest and southern cities. Information regarding the geographical heights of the heat domes, the strength of the upper Midwest storm system and the international heat discussion comes from the European computer model as advertised on windy.com 12pm CDT Wednesday May 14th. Temperatures are given using the faranheit system. For point of reference- 113°F = 45°C. 90°F = 32°C and 122°F = 50° C. And the mention of Caspian Sea is referring to the countries to the east of Caspian Sea. This episode was made Wednesday May 14th, 2025 and is the 3rd episode to cover the Midwest weather for Thursday 5/15/25 regarding both heat and severe weather potential. It's also the 3rd episode to cover the Texas heatwave. The following is an overview:
An enhanced severe weather risk has been issued by the Storm prediction center for a significant portion of the Great lakes area for Thursday, severe weather outbreak in an area in the Midwest is expected on Friday and a severe weather outbreak expected areas to the south of that on Saturday but less significant. Major Heat is expected in Texas today and temperatures reach 90° for the first time for many cities from New Orleans Louisiana all the way to Chicago along with many cities in between and to the north. Extreme heat is expected to overtake the entire country of Israel this Shabbos and very intense Heat for today for areas to the east of the Caspian Sea, areas along the India Pakistan border and this heat will redevelop later on in the next two week forecast cycle. Details regarding all of this could be found in this episode along with details involved in the overall powerhouse storm system moving along the Minnesota and Dakota's border for tomorrow. Enjoy! 13 MAG 2025 · In this episode we discuss the record-breaking heat in the Northern plains, the extreme severe risk Heat in South Texas, the temperature is going well into the 100th and 110s and other parts of texas, we discussed the potential for severe weather outbreak along with temperatures in the 90s for Wednesday and Thursday over portions of the midwest. And then a significant tornado outbreak possible in Wisconsin on thursday. We also discussed the possibility of the remaining dry over parts of Chicago Thursday evening and St Louis as well. These systems sometimes remain hidden within global models. A potential major winter storm looks to materialize early next week impacting the Midwest and East Coast. 25 AGO 2023 · Many forecasters present a weather map with a stable strong polar jet way up north and a stormy amplified southern jet stream moving across our southern states. This weather map is based upon the expectation of what a Strong El Nino has in store. This places both Missouri and Illinois in this area of calmness, in between all action. In my humble opinion, this is deceiving. The weather map they present could very well be true. But in real day-to-day weather, the ups and downs in temperatures will not only be there, they will be enhanced. This means that the up and down cycle will take place in a shorter period. I also think that the warm air will be warmer than usual (not necessarily the cold, but cold enough for snow from January onward when the storm is intense) The real cold air might be locked up north at times ( as the typical strong El Nino weather map is presented), but strong High-pressure air masses of cold air will remain present behind the vast majority of the Storms parading the country. In fact, the storms themselves will be capable of bringing the cold air down itself. Warm humid air will be drawn into the system, as cold air is drawn in or develops on the backside of the system. Due to the warm Gulf waters, storms will be supercharged. They will spin and intensify rapidly. Although in many cases the jet stream is what steers the storms, this winter some of the storms will steer the Jetstream. The "picture perfect" weather map that is often associated with El Nino is not an accurate reflection of reality. There will be plenty of storms that will turn north before reaching the Appalachians. Chicago will likely have its encounters with high dew point air from the Gulf Of Mexico at least once in January and will be close to it several times (due to weekly storm systems from active southern stream). Since warm fronts are not well defined, the temperatures in Chicago will be above to very above normal during these periods along with clouds, fog, and rain. As the storm moves East the precipitation will change to snow. It will be the spin of the storm that will keep things moving, will cause some storms to take a more westward track than anticipated, will intensify rapidly, and bring down cold air, even Arctic air on its backside. Therefore, snowfall time will be of lesser duration but with more intensity.
Always feel free to follow a different forecast if you like, there are many expert long-term weather forecasters out there. Although I don't claim to be one of them, I haven't been impressed enough with their accuracy to cast doubts on the info presented in this episode. 4 GIU 2023 · What a week it's been! A heat dome moved into south central Canada, the Midwest and Great Lakes area. From last Tuesday onwards numerous cities in every state have been seeing 90°+ highs on a daily basis. This 90° heat is unique in that it blew in on east winds and the most intense heat came as winds blew from the northeast. Chicago officially saw 4 consecutive days with highs of 90°+ despite the cold lake that lies to the east, northeast and even slightly southeast from the city. This means that there was a lake component to this wind at all times yet this wasn't able to prevent the 90° heat from occurring. The solar insolation is the highest in the world over the Great lakes this time of year when skies are clear (but soon it will be the Arctic).
Due to Low pressure that's been hanging out down south and east (even a tropical storm) the high pressure and its associated clear skies positioned itself in perfect proximity to bring maximum heating to the Lake water temperatures. The minimum water temperatures shot up 10° this past week.
There is so much going on right now which I don't have time to write about here or even speak about but much of it is covered in this episode. As exciting as this episode is, it hopefully will be outdone in a couple weeks as 90° heat heads into the actual arctic (as shown on some computer models). The June Arctic solar insolation is more intense than even the hottest cities. Therefore, if skies are clear and the ground is thawed (snow free) it is the perfect opportunity for maximum heating which usually will include widespread 86°-95°F heat. In fact in this episode we discuss 101° heat that took place in the upper latitudes in Russia and official 99° heat that took place on 60° N Latitude. If that doesn't interest you, perhaps the 126° in Shushtar, Iran will.
