Tyler Christopher Baker (November 11, 1972 – October 31, 2023), known professionally as Tyler Christopher, was an American actor. He was best known for his roles as Nikolas Cassadine (1996–1999, 2003–2011, 2013–2016) and Connor Bishop (2004–2005) on the ABC soap opera General Hospital.Christopher was born in Joliet, Illinois, and began his acting career at a young age. He appeared in a number of commercials and television shows before landing his breakthrough role on General Hospital in 1996. He quickly became a fan favorite for his portrayal of the complex and charismatic Nikolas Cassadine.Christopher left General Hospital in 1999 to pursue other opportunities. He appeared in a number of primetime television shows, including The Pretender, CSI: Miami, and NCIS. He also starred in the television films Into the West and Shouting Secrets.In 2003, Christopher returned to General Hospital. He continued to play Nikolas Cassadine until 2016. He also played Connor Bishop on the show from 2004 to 2005.Christopher was a talented actor who was known for his range and versatility. His representative, Chi Muoi Lo, shared the heartbreaking news, saying, "This news was incredibly shocking, and I am devastated by his loss. He was a very gifted actor, and more importantly, an amazing friend. My heart goes out to his friends and family who loved him so much."
Maurice Bernard, his co-star from "General Hospital," paid tribute to Tyler, describing him as "a truly talented individual that lit up the screen in every scene he performed and relished bringing joy to his loyal fans through his acting." He added, "Tyler was a sweet soul and wonderful friend to all of those who knew him."
In 2008, Tyler Christopher married ESPN reporter Brienne Pedigo, and together they had two children. However, in 2021, their marriage came to an end. Tyler had previously been married to actress Eva Longoria from 2002 to 2004.
Tyler's most iconic role was that of Nikolas Cassadine on "General Hospital," a character he portrayed from 1996 to 2016. His exceptional performance earned him a Daytime Emmy win and four additional nominations over the years. In 2017, he took a "personal leave" from the show and did not return. He later graced our screens as Stefan DiMera on "Days of Our Lives" from 2018 to 2019, earning another Daytime Emmy nomination.

His sister had petitioned to be his legal guardian during his recovery, a guardianship that concluded in 2021. In May, he was arrested at the Hollywood-Burbank airport on suspicion of public intoxication, highlighting his personal struggles.
Tyler was an advocate for better mental health and substance use treatment, openly discussing his battles with bipolar depression and alcohol. As Maurice Bernard aptly expressed, "We are beyond devastated by the loss of our dear friend and pray for his children and his father." Tyler Christopher's memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who admired his talent and respected his advocacy for mental health and well-being.
