29 LUG 2026 · Simone Kelly is a pre-med student at Drew University, a volunteer EMT, and someone who balances school with long work hours. On Thursday, June 18, she planned to spend the day like thousands of other New York Knicks fans—celebrating the team's historic championship parade through New York City's "Canyon of Heroes."
She woke up early, secured a great spot, and climbed onto a sanitation truck with other fans to take in the atmosphere. But in an instant, the celebration turned into a life-or-death situation.
After noticing commotion on the ledge of a subway tower, Simone saw that while two men had made it back to the ground, another remained on the ledge, appearing to teeter on the edge. As time passed and no one stepped in, Simone relied on her EMT training, climbed the tower herself, and assessed the situation.
Moments later, someone threw a bottle of water and Narcan nasal spray up to her. Trusting her training, Simone administered the Narcan, helping the man regain consciousness. What began as a celebration quickly became a scene where thousands of people were cheering not for the Knicks, but for Simone's courage and quick thinking.
The dramatic rescue went viral, earning coverage from major media outlets and leading to numerous interviews. While Simone was the one who took charge in an incredibly intense moment, she emphasizes that it was truly a team effort. People on the ground stood ready to help, and once the man regained consciousness, everyone worked together to safely bring him back down—a difficult but successful effort.
One of the lasting images from that day was Simone pumping her fists in the air after the rescue was complete. It wasn't a celebration of herself—it was relief, gratitude, and the joy of knowing a life had been saved.

7 LUG 2026 · Chris Singleton identified as a baseball player from an early age. In a short time, America's pastime took him to incredible places. By just 19 years old, Chris had accomplished more in the sport than many people ever will. He was drafted by the Chicago Cubs and spent several seasons in their minor league system.
Everything changed on June 17, 2015, when Chris' world was turned upside down. A racist mass shooting and hate crime at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston, South Carolina, claimed the lives of nine people during a Bible study. Tragically, Chris' mother, Sharonda Coleman-Singleton, was among those killed.
After taking time to process the unimaginable loss, Chris made the decision to turn his pain into purpose. He discovered a new calling in life: inspiring others through a message of forgiveness, unity, resilience, and hope.
Today, Chris is a nationally renowned motivational speaker and bestselling author who shares his powerful story with organizations, schools, and audiences across the country. He also enjoys life with his high school sweetheart and their three beautiful children.
Chris' journey is a testament to the strength of the human spirit. During one of the darkest moments imaginable, he chose to become a light for others.
