  • Armed Forces Week, Emerging Healthcare Technologies Symposium and Active Listening

We talked to Neill WIlson and John Clague about their experience as veterans, how they found leaving the forces to work within the NHS and why Armed Forces week is important to them. (20:25) We'll hear from Jaya, the Interim Head of Research and Development at the hospital. In our brief chat, she discussed the upcoming Emerging Healthcare Technologies Symposium, scheduled for August 27. She shared insights on what to expect from the event and how to get involved.     19 GIU 2024 · This week we recognised the 3rd national estates and facilities day by celebrating the essential contributions of estates and facilities professionals, emphasising their vital role in ensuring safe, efficient, and sustainable operations. (1:00) Angus and Jess talk about their roles in the canteen, what’s on offer and what we can expect in the near future! (7:36) Charlie and I went on a small tour with Barry Manser who is the Deputy Head of Estates here at RCHT. Barry gave us a bit more of an insight into what happens behind the doors of the hospital and how the processes here differ to those at home. (23:20) Brian Johnson, director of estates and facilities tells us about his role and the roles and opportunites within his almost 600 strong team. (33:53) Leslie Rust, senior maintenance manager shares his career pathway into estates as a naval veteran and what his plans are for the future of the team. (40:44) Gardeners Steve and Corinne join us in the studio to talk about their role at Royal Cornwall Hospital and tell us their favourite outside spaces. (46:50) Eve Tucker's green tip of the week. (47:38) Ellen Daquioag, Clinical Nurse Specialist in the Eye Unit, talks about her experience coming to Cornwall as a teenager and being one of the first Filipina colleagues working at RCHT.   • Greener AHPs, Harvey's Lab Tours, 'Aspire' Awards & Filipino Cultural Appreciation Month
