(19:02) Chairwoman, Mairi Mclean, met up with head gardener Steve Smith to plant the first of our NHS Forest trees – we’ll be finding out about that initiative a little later.

14 NOV 2024 · 1:15 - We hear from patient Frankie about her experience with the Godrevy project and what the project meant to her during her cancer treatment.
7:07 - Olly the octopus is a new child friendly and sustainable IV pole. Hannah meets with Florence, who’s Olly’s designer, to talk about how they’re using recyclable materials from the hospital to create this innovative new product.
16.04 - Glyn Belt tells Laura about the new frailty same day emergency care unit at west cornwall hospital, what it’s used for and how it’s helping the local community and wider care system.
20:37 - Nycki's back with her AllyTips and this week’s topic is “pronouns are not preferred”.
22:06 - And the QI team return with an update on QI month so far as well as this week's QI corner.
7 NOV 2024 · (1:27) We also have Consultant Endocrinologist, Duncan Brown and Deputy director of infection, prevention and control; Jo Taylor in the studio to talk about the Norovirus 301 Vaccine Trial that is starting at RCHT. They explain what the Norovirus is, and tell us more about the Noro 301 Study that is happening across the world.
(9:15) We are also starting a brand new segment on our show this week, it’s Nycki’s Allytip of the week – She’ll be telling us about Black History Month.
(10:48) Armed Forces Network Chair, John Clague joins Chief Executive Steve Williamson and Chief Medical Officer Allister Grant for the Armed Forces Covenant Signing. Collectively they talk about what the Armed Forces Covenant is, the importance of it’s existence in our organisation and how we support the members of the Armed Forces whether they are staff or patients here at the Hospital.
(20:30) As it’s QI Month, The QI team are hosting events, improvement training, and activities for the whole of the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly health and care sector throughout November – Haydn and Serina will bring us the first of their four QI Corner bitesize tips on Quality Improvement.

31 OTT 2024 · (1:15) Lucy Tuson and I visited West Cornwall Hospital last week to meet with Peggy Sloan, a Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS trust staff nurse, who is retiring after an NHS career spanning more than 45 years! Lucy asks Peggy questions regarding her time in the NHS and what some of her favourite and most rewarding moments were.
(10:37) As part of our Cost improvement plan here at RCHT, Pete and I met with Chief Pharmacist Iain Davidson to discuss the medical waste we currently have in our hospitals and how reducing this would be a great example of a way in which we can make significant savings without detriment to patient care, all whilst reducing the waste itself.
(16:00) In true Halloween spirit Eve Tucker’s green tip this week is all about Pumpkins
(17:27) Lead Chaplain Mark Richards is back on the show this afternoon, and is bringing along Em Dixon, who is our first Humanist Chaplain here at RCHT. We’ll be finding out more in regards to what a Humanist Chaplain is and what their role entails!

3 OTT 2024 · It’s Cyber Awareness Month! And we are joined by Martin Price who is Cyber Security lead at Cornwall IT Services and will be telling us what we need to look out for to keep us safe as the festive season approaches.
CHBN African vibes host Richard, otherwise known as Richybongo, is on the show to talk about what it’s been like for him moving to Cornwall from Nigeria, how he’s been engaging with listeners on his new radio show, and to wish Nigeria a happy independence day.
It’s also Freedom to speak up month so Kim O’Keefe, our Chief Nursing officer and Steve Williamson, chief executive join us to discuss the importance of speaking up and how our senior leadership team are always here to support anybody with a concern.

26 SET 2024 · (1:05) This week is national inclusion week and with us in the studio is Nycki Gray-Cooper who is the chair of our allies network and recently gave a presentation on her lived experience of being an Ally.
(14:20) Our colleague Amanda and Pete met with Martin Kitts who’s been a organ donation recipient on three occasions over the past 34 years and has also recently taken part in the British Transplant Games.
(23:21) We’ll have more information about the transplant process and where you can find out about becoming an organ doner with Sarah Jarvis – The clinical lead for organ donation at Royal Cornwall Hospital.

(6:20) Simone from Whole Again Communities who encourage and support learning the art of cooking nutritious, affordable meals from scratch through free activities based in their open house.
(10:17) Tracy from Active Cornwall talks to Lucy about their mission to encourage people to be more active.

(15:35) A month ago, CHBN colleague Chris Robins went to visit his friend Paul Eustice from local band, the Viewers where Paul shared his story with bowel cancer and the importance of getting check.
