Danny Pino of MGM+ Series "Hotel Cocaine"
6 LUG 2024 · The BUZZ officially wraps up "Hotel Cocaine" week as we sit down with the star of the MGM+ series, Danny Pino. The actor, who plays Roman Compte on the show, talked with us about the upcoming episode, "The Most Wonderful Time of the Year." As viewers will see in the new episode, Roman will face a point of no return that will not only affect him, but his family as well. We talked about the introduction of new characters entering the scene, including Ray Dorado (Erniel Baez) and Yolanda (Mayra Hermosillo), and how they will be playing a pivotal part to the already established characters.
Some other aspects of the conversation we got into included how fans still love and appreciate the show, "Cold Case," and that they would like to see it potentially rebooted. Pino talked about writing two episodes of the series and if he would like to write for, "Hotel Cocaine." The actor also shared some insight on Norman Lear, as he got to work with him on the NETFLIX/Pop sitcom, "One Day at a Time," and take part in the script reading at the ATX TV Festival.
"Hotel Cocaine" drops new episodes on MGM+ every Sunday at 9 PM ET, and you can stream all of the previous episodes currently on the platform.
Erniel Baez of MGM+ Series, "Hotel Cocaine"
4 LUG 2024 · "Hotel Cocaine" Week continues at The BUZZ this week as Erniel Baez stops by to chat about his character, Ray Dorado. Ray makes his debut in the upcoming episode that drops this Sunday, and Baez describes him as someone with street smarts, charismatic, but very dangerous. One thing that we did reveal is that after this episode, it is going to get even more intense up to the finale.
Baez spoke with us about what attracted him to not only the show but also to the character of Ray Dorado. He spoke with us on reading up on the history of, "The Mutiny Hotel," Roman Compte, Ray, and how he used those facets and incorporated it into his portrayal of the character. We even got deeper in the conversation about Cuban representation in the series and working alongside actors of the Cuban/Cuban American culture.
So much insight and worthwhile conversation that you definitely want to hear!

Writer/Director Dustin Murphy of "Coyote"
4 LUG 2024 · The BUZZ had the chance to speak with writer and director of, "Coyote," Dustin Murphy. Known as, "Teleport," in the UK, the movie takes place in the dystopian future where two refugees are desperately trying to escape genocide. However, they put their trust in the wrong hands, and the two are separated during teleportation. In their efforts to reunite, they find themselves in a human trafficking ring run by corrupt politicians.
Murphy spoke with us about how he came up with the concept of the film, as well as why he felt it was important to tell the story. We dove deeper into the Indie film scope and why it is such an important medium to tell stories without interference. Murphy also shared his own story about moving from the states in 2017 to the UK. Other aspects of the conversation included what scene stood out for him and working alongside Therica Wilson-Read.
"Coyote" can currently be seen on many streaming platforms, including Tubi, Amazon, and Apple TV.
Don Mike of MGM+ Series "Hotel Cocaine"
3 LUG 2024 · The BUZZ is kicking off "Hotel Cocaine" week with Don Mike who plays Omar on the MGM+ series. Omar works at the The Mutiny Hotel and is described as the suave, hip, and cool man of the club scene. The actor spoke with us about the Los Angeles premiere of the show which took place last month, reconnecting with cast members, and watching the pilot on the big screen.
While Omar may not have a big story occurring at the moment, we did speak about what we would like to see for him if/when the series is picked up for a second season. Mike and I dove deep into what kind of backstory we would like to potentially see for Omar, especially during the time period the series takes place. He also talked with us about how people did not recognize him when he came back to filming the series after the strikes were over. Find out exactly how this topic came up!
After talking with Mike about how he got into the acting field, we both had a very insightful conversation (with me getting on my soapbox a bit) about diversity in television and how we need more in front AND behind the camera telling stories.

Actor Edward Crawford and Author Joe Lansdale
28 GIU 2024 · The BUZZ had a jam-packed show with two guests to speak on their upcoming projects. We first chatted with Edward Crawford, who stars in the Indie film, "60 Miles North." Crawford plays Clarence (which is his actual first name) and follows the events of getting a great hosting gig...only for it to taken away from him. The film is a depiction of Crawford's real-life experiences, as he was the original host of the game show, "Cash Cab," but lost it to Ben Bailey due to an undisclosed DUI. We also got into the conversation about his diagnosis of Lyme Disease, which was also incorporated into the film. Half a million Americans live with this disease undiagnosed, and we hope to call attention to this by our discussion and his upcoming film.
Our second guest was Joe Lansdale, who has a new book coming out called, "Sugar on the Bones," which is a part of the Hap and Leonard series. This has spanned for over 34 years and worked into a television series starring James Purefoy, Michael Kenneth Williams, and Christina Hendricks. We spoke with him about the latest book, along his contributions to, "Batman: The Animated Series," "Superman: The Animated Series," "Batman Beyond," and much more!
"60 Miles North" will be released on July 9th via Amazon and Fandago at Home, while "Sugar on the Bones" hits the shelves on July 18th.

Guests were treated to an advanced screening of their newest episode with guest Heidi Klum. I will say...definitely watch this one! You will not be disappointed. Following the presentation, we were treated to a panel discussion moderated by Seth Meyers, who actually was a guest on, "Hot Ones," in 2015. During the discussion, we learned some behind the scenes tidbits, such as the crew being flown to Hawaii, celebrities sliding into Evans' DM's to be on the series, and which celebs had an intense reaction to the hot sauce! They also shared some of their favorite moments from the show, one of which included Aubrey Plaza snorting milk out of her nose, and they even spoke about having the show be spoofed by "SNL."

The film, which stars Scoot McNairy and Kit Harrington, follows Cliff (McNairy) being lured back into his former life of crime thanks to Ricky (Harrington) after Cliff has lost his job. We discussed how the movie has been compared to "'Breaking Bad' Meets 'Fargo,'" yet I had another take on it.
Blackhurst also talked about the cast, which also include Josh Lucas, and how he was able to secure such a stellar ensemble. One of the best things to talk about was Blackhurst's involvement with the music group, "The Fray." He spoke about how he was along for the journey to stardom.

Author Fran Metzman of "The Cha-Cha Babes"
18 APR 2024 · The BUZZ had a sit down with author Fran Metzman, who wrote the Amazon bestseller, "The Cha-Cha Babes." While we did discuss the latest installment, "The Cha-Cha Babes: Dance with the Devil," we discussed the serious topic of human trafficking.
This topic does not get the attention it needs to, and we talked about what we can do as a whole to help prevent sex trafficking.
This is one of our more serious topics at THE BUZZ, and we implore you to listen to what we have to say on this important subject. We also hope you take what you hear and pay attention to potential warning signs if you ever notice this happening in your area.
Gene Pope of "Queen of Knives"
18 APR 2024 · Gene Pope stopped by the podcast to chat about the film, "Queen of Knives." While this is a follow-up to, "King of Knives," this has a more comedic take than the previous where it was more drama-centric. Pope spoke with us about how we can consider this a coming of age film, and how Frank, Pope's character, has to go through new stages in his life.
We spoke about the stellar cast in this film, including Mel Harris, who many fans remember from her role as Hope on the ABC drama, "Thirtysomething." Pope gave us some behind the scenes stories that took place and his biggest takeaway from the film.
