11 OTT 2022 · Tell Me Something is a podcast all about stories and storytelling. But unlike my other podcasts, not stories that I've written but rather ones that I've heard and read. Each week I'll be taking down a book from my library and talking about it, riffing on the ideas and tales contained within, talking about the themes it connects to in the wide world and my own personal experience.
One week we'll be talking about the Sufi poetry of Rumi, the next the life of a mathmatician or the history of the war on drugs. We'll hear stories from travels in Arabia in the 19th century, we'll learn about the Dark Net, we'll talk about science and songwriting, memoirs and myth.
In short, the podcast will be as eclectic and diverse as the collection of books piled up on my shelves that look as though they're about to imminently collapse.
In retrospect, I probably should have become a professor. I love to read and talk and discuss. The only things holding me back is a lack of an academic education - I don't really know very much about anything.
But I do know a little about a lot of things. And in this podcast I plan to weave diverse narratives together, sometimes wildly digressing because, well, digressing is fun, and essentially share with you my love of books and stories.
Hell, it's just a bunch of stuff I feel like talking about.
