Uzoma Dozie was the last Group managing director of Diamond Bank, Nigeria having taking over the mantle from his Father, Mr. Pascal Dozie who founded the bank in 1990. During his tenure at Diamond bank, Uzoma was responsible for overseeing the corporate and commercial arms of the bank. He grew the retail banking arm to 18 million customers and oversaw the successful merger with Access Bank in April 2019 resulting in the new institution becoming Africa’s largest bank with 29 million customers. Prior to leading Diamond bank, Uzoma was a financial controller, spearheading different strategic business units within the organization. After his stint at Diamond bank, Uzoma has since launched “Sparkle” a mobile-first platform for Nigeria’s retail sector combining his vision for using technology to power financial inclusion and skill with his extensive background in retail and financial services. Uzoma is passionate about leveraging technology to play a definitive role in the social development and transformation of businesses on the continent. He believes that technology, good governance combined with support and education for SMEs has the power to push Africa forward.
