16 APR 2024 · To ensure that our computers and smartphones run smoothly, they need batteries that can effectively store and release electrical energy. Energy storage is becoming an increasingly important component of the energy transition, leading to the rapid growth of the global electricity storage market. According to BloombergNEF, in 2023 installations have reached 42 Gigawatts with a total capacity of 99 Gigawatt hours, double the amount recorded in 2022. This is only the start, as forecasts predict a cumulative total of 650 Gigawatts by 2030. In this episode, Marco Scurati and guest Marco Congiatu from the Plenitude Renewable Development team explore how electricity produced from renewable sources is stored and transformed into energy for change.
16 APR 2024 · The wind's power is so strong that it can reach speeds of 320 Km/h, and it is thanks to this power that scholars and explorers have been able to set sails and explore our planet. Wind is also capable of generating energy, and it is becoming increasingly prominent among renewable energy sources. According to the latest Wind Europe data, 2023 saw the installation of 17 Gigawatts of new facilities across Europe, with 14 Gigawatts from onshore and 3 Gigawatts from offshore installations. In this episode, Marco Scurati and guest Claudio Piccinelli, Head of Offshore Wind and Northern Europe Renewables at Plenitude, explore how the power of wind is transformed into energy.
16 APR 2024 · Solar energy is inexhaustible... which is one of the many reasons it’s among the most used renewable energy sources. The numbers confirm it: in 2024, photovoltaic energy is expected to soar even higher after 2023 saw a record-setting 444 Gigawatts of new capacity added. In this episode, Marco Scurati and guest Mariangiola Mollicone, Head of Western Europe Renewables and Managing Director of Plenitude Renewables Spain, explore how solar rays are converted into energy.
