Two Channels, One Personal Group
Soul Group Antenna is the name of my podcast.
But the name came from something I discovered while watching television.
I have two channels that I enjoy watching: Bounce and 365BLK.
I discovered that my television allows me to organize channels in my Favorites list. I could group channels together and even give that group my own name.
So I thought: Why not call my group Soul Group Antenna?
That’s where the idea for the podcast name came from.
Now, I want to make something clear. Soul Group Antenna is my podcast and my personal channel group. I don’t own Bounce or 365BLK, and I’m not claiming that I do.
I’m simply creating my own viewing group from channels that I receive on my television.
What’s the Difference?
Bounce is a broader Black entertainment network, featuring television series, movies, specials, and other entertainment.
365BLK also focuses on Black entertainment, with a strong emphasis on movies and television programming.
They’re different channels with their own identities.
But on my television, I can put them together in my Favorites group.
So when I select Soul Group Antenna, I’m not turning them into my network.
I’m creating my own personal way of watching them.
It’s almost like having my own little television network—but it’s not mine.
And that’s what makes the name Soul Group Antenna meaningful to me.
The antenna represents what I’m receiving.
The group represents the channels I’ve chosen.
And the podcast is where I get to talk about the experience.

The best Christmas ever was when my brother helped me get a flat-screen TV. But I soon learned that I needed an antenna for the TV to pick up signals from local broadcast stations that transmit their programming over the air.
I discovered that placing an indoor TV antenna higher than the television—ideally on a wall or high up near a window—can often improve signal reception. So I came up with my own idea. I stacked a few CD containers and attached my antenna to the top. At the very bottom, I added a Cool Whip container because it was wider and helped make the whole setup feel more stable.
As I scanned for channels, more signals began to appear.
Even today, I sometimes have to rescan my television to find new channels. One day, I scanned again, and Channel 50 came in along with a subchannel, WRAZ 4 — 50-4. I noticed that Batman was showing. The TV showed a strong signal indicator, but the picture was black.
Sometimes a channel can show a strong signal but still fail to produce a usable picture. Reception can vary depending on the antenna’s position, the surrounding environment, interference, and other conditions. Some signals may also become easier to receive at certain times of day.
What started with a Christmas gift from my brother turned into something more than just watching television. I began experimenting with antennas, scanning for channels, and figuring out how to bring more of the broadcast world into my home.

I would love to be able to tune in to MovieSphere Gold, but in my area, the over-the-air DTV signal is too weak for me to receive it reliably.

I want this channel so badly that I would love to have it sitting right there in my TV channel favorites list. I have been visiting the MovieSphere Gold website, and I like what I see. The programming looks like something I would enjoy watching.
From my own experience with over-the-air television, I believe the signal environment in my area was stronger in past years. There was a time when I could receive channels from much farther away. Today, some channels I used to receive are more difficult to bring in, weaker than before, or no longer seem to be available.
I have reached out to Lionsgate to let them know that I am unable to receive MovieSphere Gold over the air and that stronger reception would make a difference for viewers in areas like mine.
For now, I am hoping the signal situation improves. I would love to see MovieSphere Gold come in strong enough for me to add it to my favorites and enjoy the movies.

In a recent look back at classic television, we dive into "Baretta," a show that aired in the mid-1970s. This series is actually a revamped version of another show called "Toma," which starred Tony Musante as a real-life New Jersey police officer named David Toma. After just one season, Musante left, leading to the reworking of the series into "Baretta," featuring Robert Blake in the lead role.
I recall when the show used to come on. I never watched the show as a kid, but I remember Baretta and a white cockatoo. This morning I watched a sad episode of Baretta titled "The Goodbye Orphan Annie Blues." He came to suspect that his close friend, a music store owner, was a drug dealer—suspecting the friend might be unknowingly selling heroin. The episode had a truly sad ending.
"Baretta" follows the story of Anthony Vincenzo "yTony" Baretta, a unique and somewhat unconventional detective who works in a fictional city’s 53rd Precinct. He lives in a rundown hotel and has a pet Triton cockatoo named Fred. One of Baretta's intriguing traits is his skill in disguise, which helps him solve cases. His everyday look is casual and laid-back, typically sporting a short-sleeve sweatshirt, comfortable slacks, a brown suede jacket, and a newsboy cap—giving off a relaxed vibe even while on the job.
Baretta has become memorable not just for his detective work, but also for his iconic mannerisms. He’s often seen with an unlit cigarette tucked behind his ear, and he has a few famous sayings that fans remember fondly. Phrases like "Don't do the crime if you can't do the time," and "You can take dat to da bank," capture his street-smart attitude and make him a relatable character to many viewers.

Stone Breaker Magnetus was a formidable presence within the confines of the chain gang. His unique ability to manipulate stones with a magnetic grip not only set him apart but also earned him respect among his fellow prisoners. The nickname "Stone Breaker" was well-deserved—he could shatter the toughest of rocks with the makeshift hammer he crafted from a giant stone, which was as much a tool as it was an extension of his strength.
Under the grueling sun, as they toiled away at their daily hard labor, it was Magnetus's magnetic handles that transformed the difficult task of stone collection into a more manageable endeavor. With a flick of his wrist, he could attract several stones to him at once, creating a chain of rocks that floated effortlessly in the air—almost as if defying gravity. This not only sped up the process but also inspired ingenuity among his fellow inmates, who began to look to him for leadership.
Thomas Chain Gang, the unofficial leader of the group, recognized Stone Breaker’s abilities and quickly positioned him as his right-hand man. The bond they forged was built on mutual respect and the shared goal of survival within the brutal confines of prison life. Thomas’s strategic mindset combined with Magnetus's raw physicality made them an effective duo. They devised methods to maximize efficiency, turning their burdens into lighter loads.
Together, they rallied their fellow inmates, organizing them into teams that utilized their strengths for better productivity. Some prisoners gathered smaller stones using the magnet handles that Magnetus fashioned, while others focused on breaking down larger rocks for construction purposes. With Thomas directing efforts and Stone Breaker providing the muscle and tools, the prisoners found a sense of camaraderie that made their daily struggles a bit more bearable.
As days turned into weeks, the chip-chip of hammers against stone began to blend with laughter and shouts of encouragement. The prison yard, once a place of despair, transformed into a bustling, if makeshift, community under the guidance of two unlikely leaders. They began to hope that their efforts might one day lead to freedom, a flickering light at the end of a very long tunnel.
Through innovation and teamwork, Stone Breaker Magnetus and Tim not only molded stones but also forged a sense of purpose and resilience among their band of prisoners. Even in the darkest of places, they managed to summon a spirit of unity and strength, teaching each other that they were more than just inmates—they were a family, resilient against the weight of their chains.

Good evening, I’m Gail Nobles and welcome to an animation's memory lane. Today, we're shining a light on two delightful troublemakers: Heckle and Jeckle, the iconic magpies born in the postwar era that are sure to bring a smile to your face.
Created by the talented Paul Terry at his Terrytoons animation studio, Heckle and Jeckle made their debut in 1946 and quickly became a playful pair we couldn't help but adore. With their distinct yellow bills and playful personalities, these identical magpies each bring their own flair to the screen. Heckle, with his tough New York accent, embodies a street-smart sensibility, while Jeckle, with his charming British lilt, offers a contrast that makes their escapades all the more entertaining.
Throughout the years, Heckle and Jeckle were brought to life by a series of talented voice actors, each adding their own touch to the characters. From Dayton Allen, whose voice was heard through the 1940s to the mid-60s, to Frank Welker's unique interpretations in the late 1970s, these voices filled the characters with personality and charm, helping to cement their place in animation history.
So, whether you remember catching their antics on Saturday morning cartoons or are just discovering them, Heckle and Jeckle remind us of the joy of laughter, the fun of mischief, and the timeless appeal of animated storytelling. 27 AGO 2025 · Thomas Chain Gang is a railroad story. Thomas is a black chain gang prisoner. He was put into prison by false report. Two black police officers claimed he was involved in a robbery. They were in cahoots with the real robber that got away.
Thomas is a master builder. He knew how to make tools for the railroad. He made himself a shawl to keep warm. The shawl made him look different than all the other men and they put him in charge as a leader. Little did he know that he would become a great leader outside of prison.
Making the Character
Creating Thomas was not easy in AI. I tried to add a shawl on Thomas. When I finally got one added on to him, I tried to make a second video of him wearing a shawl and it disappeared. I had to start over several times until I was satisfied.
