13 MAR 2025 · Here's what we're reading, recommending, and revisiting this week.
Catherine's library find is a slim, slightly twee French novel, https://us.macmillan.com/books/9781250315434/thegirlwhoreadsonthemetro/ by Christine Feret-Fleury. She doesn't give it a full-throated endorsement, but if you'd like to vicariously visit Paris and you love books, you might enjoy this. (And if you'd like to help us define the words "quirky" and "zany," leave us a comment on https://www.instagram.com/prpodcast/?hl=en, https://twitter.com/RoundAboutChat, or https://www.facebook.com/parentingroundabout/).
Terri's random recommendation this week is a productivity tool she's trying called https://clockify.me/. It's helping her work with her distractible tendencies, instead of fighting against them.
In the archives, we checked in on an episode from 2020 on the challenges of https://www.parentingroundaboutpodcast.com/blog/turning-negative-self-talk-around, in our kids and even in ourselves.
Next week's lineup:
- Lost S2 E13, "The Long Con," on Tuesday, March 18
- A Man on the Inside S1 E8, "The Spy Who Came in from the Cold," on Wednesday, March 19
- Weekly roundup on Thursday, March 20

12 MAR 2025 · Every Wednesday, we share our thoughts on a newer entertainment property. Right now, we're watching A Man on the Inside. While this week's episode did return to the mystery ostensibly at the heart of the show (and end on a cliffhanger, of course), it was still mostly about the melancholies of aging, with a hefty side of parent-child conflict. Cheery!
Next Wednesday, we'll watch the season 1 finale, "The Spy Who Came in from the Cold." We'll be back tomorrow with our weekly roundup.

11 MAR 2025 · Each Tuesday, we discuss an older entertainment property, and currently, that's Lost. This week's episode was nearly unrelentingly sad for the lead character, Charlie. A brief Hurley/Libby frustration was the only relief from the nightmares and flashbacks to nightmarish real-life events.
Next Tuesday, we'll continue with season 2, episode 13, "The Long Con." Tomorrow, we're back with our sitcom, A Man on the Inside.

Catherine's library find is a picture book called https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=av8bAO1xWnY by Robyn Wall with pictures by A.N. Kang. It stars a cute (really!) spider whose web-weaving efforts are frequently thwarted. We also recommend a scroll down Wall's https://robynjwall.com/#picture-books, including My First Book of Beards, "a super-stylish board book for babies and toddlers with bearded dads" (really!).
Terri's random recommendation this week is more of an observation: AI is everywhere! There's https://claude.ai/, https://x.ai/grok, https://openai.com/index/chatgpt/, and more, with some useful applications and some less so.
In the archives, we checked in on an episode from 2019 on how sharing our words of wisdom sometimes feels https://www.parentingroundaboutpodcast.com/blog/like-talking-to-a-brick-wall.
Next week's lineup:
- Lost S2 E12, "Fire + Water," on Tuesday, March 10
- A Man on the Inside S1 E7, "From Russian Hill with Love," on Wednesday, March 11
- Weekly roundup on Thursday, March 12

5 MAR 2025 · Every Wednesday, we share our thoughts on a newer entertainment property. Right now, we're watching A Man on the Inside. Last week, we complained that the mystery (the alleged driver of the plot) had been forgotten and been replaced by a melancholy look at aging. This week, things got even sadder as one of Charles's friends died. However, at least we got some Charles-Emily scenes, even if they were about the lack of communication between father and daughter.
Next Wednesday, we'll continue with season 1, episode 7, "From Russian Hill with Love." We'll be back tomorrow with our weekly roundup.

4 MAR 2025 · Each Tuesday, we discuss an older entertainment property, and currently, that's Lost. In case you've forgotten, this episode would like to inform you once again that Jack has a savior complex. But he's also realized that he needs an army to take on The Others, so that's next on his to-do list.
Next Tuesday, we'll continue with season 2, episode 12, "Fire + Water." Tomorrow, we're back with our sitcom, A Man on the Inside.

Catherine's library find is https://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/708778/toto-by-a-j-hackwith/, which is a look at the Wizard of Oz story from the perspective of Toto the dog. He tells us, "I was mostly a Good Dog until they sold me out to animal control, okay?" which sounds like a take we'd like to hear.
Terri's random recommendation this week is a filmed version of a stage production of https://www.max.com/movies/waitress-the-musical/46927900-99a8-4d4e-872d-c9ec544ab227, starring Sara Bareilles and streaming on Max. We've talked about the https://www.parentingroundaboutpodcast.com/blog/round-2-the-good-place-the-west-wing-and-waitress before, and Terri found this an enjoyable way to make use of her Max subscription. Mentioned: A song from the show, "She Used to Be Mine," performed by https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=chkOkcEFGM0, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DDDqIxGk9pg, and the show's creator, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N2sow2WYQNQ.

26 FEB 2025 · Every Wednesday, we share our thoughts on a newer entertainment property. Right now, we're watching A Man on the Inside. This episode strayed rather far from the spy premise of the show, and we're wondering when it'll find its way back. And when we'll see Emily and her kids again. Come on! Put those kids on the phone, at least!
Next Wednesday, we'll continue with season 1, episode 6, "Our Man in Sacramento." We'll be back tomorrow with our weekly roundup.

25 FEB 2025 · Each Tuesday, we discuss an older entertainment property, and currently, that's Lost. This week, it's Mr. Eko's turn for flashbacks telling his complicated and violent backstory, while he and Charlie search the jungle for the wreckage of the Beechcraft plane. The Smoke Monster returns and so do the computer messages from Walt (or someone claiming to be Walt).
Next Tuesday, we'll continue with season 2, episode 11, "The Hunting Party." Tomorrow, we're back with our sitcom, A Man on the Inside.

Catherine's library find is from the Scatological Department of the children's section (not a real thing, but why isn't it?). It's https://www.kirkusreviews.com/book-reviews/rafael-ordonez/great-poop-contest/ by Rafael Ordonez. Mentioned: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YNlyN4wZcCw by Jeremy Tankard.
Terri's random recommendation this week is https://www.autom.com/shop/?search_query=rosary+ring), which are useful in the dentist's chair, the passenger seat, and anywhere else you need a little prayerful distraction.
