Life in Diasporas

  • Creating and Entering Spaces as a Third Culture Kid

9 OTT 2023 · Thato van der Jagt shares her experiences as a Third Culture Kid finding her place in a nation that “on paper” she is from. Having moved around the beautiful continent of Africa her entire life, Thato shares how her lived experiences contributed to the birth of her newest project Curated Culture. Created at the height of the first Covid-19 wave, Thato describes how she envisioned this digital magazine offering a moment for black people to come together to create something beautiful and positive. Curated Culture brings to life a platform for 'ordinary people' to share what about them makes them extraordinary. It is a place for people to express themselves through stories, poems, art, photography, and more. It serves as an inspirational, entertaining, and informative collection of work that is unapologetically black. The purpose of the Life in Diasporas podcast is to figure out what it means to be black in your country. Through enlightened and well-thought discussions, we will decipher, analyze and understand what it means to be black in a European country in the 21st century. This podcast is inscribed in a broader context; while English literature documenting the histories of other Black communities in Europe has steadily increased over the years, the availability of this kind of content in France remains limited. Life in Diasporas aims to explore the ebb and flow of diasporic migratory patterns throughout Europe, from Rotterdam’s Little Cape Verde to Brussels' Congolese quarter. Join us as we embark on this adventure of tracing Afropean roots across Europe, looking at the different ways black communities have formed the spaces they have made home and the new identities they have crafted in the process.

  • We are NOMADIC

3 LUG 2022 · Jimmy Sana and Matthew Lamont are two members of the NOMADIC (Nexus of Minds and Dreams in Creation) Collective. A group of close friends - brothers & sisters - that chose to put their minds together to create something amazing. A platform that will help them share and develop their art forms, thoughts, and ideas. Not all of the NOMADS live in the same country, or even near each other, but they believe that distance can help them as each is exposed to different ideas, opinions, art forms, and feedback, which they all share and use to build each other up. @we.nomadic https://linktr.ee/wenomadic Join us on Patreon: patreon.com/parisundergroundradio Find Us Online Website: https://www.parisundergroundradio.com/lifeindiasporas Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/parisundergroundradio Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/parisundergroundradio/ Credits Host: Zaiya Karas: https://www.parisundergroundradio.com/zaiyakaras Host: Little Africa: https://www.parisundergroundradio.com/littleafrica Producer: Jennifer Geraghty. @jennyphoria; Website: http://jennyphoria.com Music Credits Title: TININI by Kaseem Bada - Million Dollar Challenge Genre and Mood: Afrobeat Music + Funky TININI | Afrobeat | Royalty Free Music | No Copyright | Afrobeat Music | Free Afrobeat Instrumental https://youtu.be/ekK5GNINPLc Creative Commons — Attribution - CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 Affiliated YouTube channel | https://www.youtube.com/c/KaseemBada About Us The displacement, voluntary or involuntary, of Black people throughout history is what we call today the African Black diaspora. • Ghana to Berlin, the power of food!

26 GIU 2022 · Today, I spoke to the amazing Evelyn Ebert! Born and raised in Ghana, West Africa, Evelyn is a mother of two lovely girls. She migrated to Germany in 2009 and got into event management immediately after integrating into the nation through language and cultural studies. Two years into the event planning industry, she transitioned into Gastronomy training with the goal of starting her own business. Evelyn lost her job in the tourism sector during Germany’s first covid-19 lockdown. As a result, she couldn’t think of a better time to start Afropot Berlin, her very own company. Today, Afropot Berlin proudly counts among the most well-recognized west African eateries in Berlin with plans to influence African culture acceptance and familiarity in Germany.
