Series Intro: This series introduces some of the best known Hindi poets, born before the independence of India, such as Muktibodh, Mahadevi Verma and Sachchidananda Hirananda Vatsyayan Agyeya. We have invited eminent broadcasters to recite their poetry to ensure perfect diction and pronunciation.
Just to understand, the history of Hindi Literature can be summed up by classifying the major developments into various periods such as Aadi kaal or Vir-Gaatha Kaal (c. 1050 to 1375), Bhakti Kaal (c. 1375 to 1700), Riti-Kavya kaal (c. 1700 to 1900) and Aadhunik Kaal (c. 1900 onwards).

12 OTT 2020 · Devesh Verma recites Sachchidananda Hirananda Vatsyayan Agyeya's literary gem, Sharnaarthi- a poetic response to the cataclysm of Partition in 1947. Sharnaarthi is deeply satirical, and metaphorical poem. For instance, the two snakes crawling side by side are metaphors for communal hatred of the two communities, the kind that given an excuse can erupt like a volcano in no time. One of the literary giants of Hindi literature, Sachchidananda Hirananda Vatsyayan Agyeya (7 March 1911- 4 April 1987) is considered to be a pioneer in introducing a new wave of hindi poetry. -
