27 OTT 2021 · Doug has some donuts with Chris Escobar, the owner, and operator of the historic Plaza Theater on Ponce DeLeon Avenue in East Atlanta! The Plaza Theatre is an Atlanta landmark and the city’s oldest operating and only independent cinema since 1939! Chris is also the longest-serving and first minority Executive Director of the 44-year old Atlanta Film Society, and producer of the Academy Award-qualifying Atlanta Film Festival Chris and Doug recount the rich history of independent theaters and film in ATL and their past and future role in the Atlanta arts scene and the city’s economic outlook.
Chris also reveals - for the first time every - his big plans for the Plaza Theather! This was quite literally a show stopper!
We join the conversation from row 25 as the house lights go up for a deep dive on film and the arts at one of America’s historic landmarks.

She sits on the Board of Directors for IHG, NYSE, is on the Board of Councilors at the Carter Center, and is a Trustee at Agnes Scott College and the Woodruff Arts Center where Doug was the CEO. Duriya and Doug are both avid fans of Atlanta United and discuss all things Atlanta - from economic development, women empowerment, and how to get things done at the city - and why local politics is so important. We join the conversation from the Beltline trail near the Freedom Parkway overpass.

28 SET 2021 · Doug reconnects with Yehimi Cambrón, a local artist, activist, public speaker, and Entrepreneur. Born in México and raised in the ATL. You may recognize her huge murals all around town - from the Buford Highway, on the side of hotels, to the Mercedez Benz Stadium! Yehimi and Doug became friends through Atlanta’s arts scene.
Her work focuses on celebrating the humanity, resilience, and contributions of immigrants. Before having a few donuts, they talked about the challenges of being a young artist with big bold dreams, and the difficulties of turning those dreams into reality.
They met up at a mural she created in honor of Martin Luther King Jr, on the side of a downtown building near Centennial Olympic Park.
