This is another of our episodes that we live-streamed but also edited down for your pod-listening pleasure - so just a heads up re some of the steam-related goofiness that you might hear in this ep.
Goofiness was essential for this one though, as the dads discussed the virtues or otherwise of remote learning, something every family with school-age kiddos has had to deal with to some degree or another the past few months. It's certainly been something that's heavily impacted Anna and Ella, though their experiences differ greatly.
As dads of kids with T1D, decisions re what to do and when have largely been dictated by our concerns over possible diabetes-related complications should Anna or Ella contract COVID-19. Increasingly, though, those determinations are being more and more influenced by what might be best for our children's mental health...

A real treat for our listeners this episode! DaD had the privilege of visiting with current Major League Soccer (MLS) champs Seattle Sounders and US Men's National Team starter Jordan Morris, perhaps the most high-profile T1D athlete in America.
Jordan talks openly about his earliest T1D memories, his fears regarding how his diagnosis might impact his dreams of playing professional soccer, and his reality today thriving as he does on the domestic and international soccer stage!

This episode is a little rough around the edges, as the Dads wholly embraced live streaming and listener interaction. It was fun...but maybe it's something we do just every now and then?! Never the less, the gamut got run once more, as Alan and Mark considered what our 'new normal' (does anyone like that phrase?!) looks like?
School, sports, shopping, social interactions, all come under the microscope as well as many other topics courtesy of our wonderful listeners and our hosts' seemingly endless ability to be derailed by bright, shiny topics of any shape, size, or description!

Alan and Mark, two men with faces for radio, unwisely decide to livestream an episode for the first time! If you're listening to this via podcast, smart move. You don't have to deal with the visuals. But you can at least enjoy the different energy that being able to see one another generated from the show hosts.
The gents begin to ruminate on the pandemic 'new normal', and how they're trying to navigate all that comes with it when you have a T1D to consider. Running to the shops, going to church, playing sports, all whilst social distancing and wearing masks - or not! Some folks don't seem to quite understand the necessity for these things, so T1D families have that to navigate, too...
