In this 2 part season premiere we do a deep dive into the flip of the switch that happens when your child turns 2 - because that switch flips REAAAAAAAL FAST BELIEVE ME!!!
In part 1 we discuss the age old classification of turning 2..... THE TERRIBLE TWOS!!! What is it about turning two that causes our kids to be so difficult? In these 2 months of reflection I feel that it's the first time a child WANTS more than he/she NEEDS - at least in their minds. In the words of the Rolling Stones, "you can't always get what you want" but when it comes to two year olds, that means you're getting tantrums, tears and a weeee bit of terror!

It's week 103 of #DaddingHard which means we're 1 week away from my 2nd Anniversary as a Dad aka my daughter's 2nd Birthday! But before she turns 2 she's putting that sponge brain to work and is desperate to learn and remember everything she possibly can. That means daddy can't make empty promises about future plans anymore.....
In our guest segment this week, I sit down with father, fitness professional, Childhood Autism Advocate and all around incredible guy, Gary Martinez Jr! We talk about his #dadlife raising his 15 year old daughter through Autism. He drops tactics that he's used to help with the process and make his daughter comfortable, approaching bullies at school, using his acting dust, the importance of Disney+, having his daughter's condition brushed to the side by doctors and taking on the responsibility AS A DAD to help, love and protect his daughter while enabling her to evolve and have the life that every kid wants to have. It's week 102 of #daddinghard and I am blown away daily by my daughters seemingly LIGHTSPEED advancements with her language. Conversations - CHECK. Expressing her wants - CHECK. Expressing her emotions...... meeehhh not so much. This daily development might be my favorite this about fatherhood thus far.
In our guest segment welcomes now 2x guest and incredible writer Joe Keohane! Last time we did a deep dive on postpartum depression in dads - which we both experienced - this time though we dive deep into his fatherhood journey. We discuss his daughter's advanced love for art, how she's adapting to post-covid life, mechanisms he used to adapt to fatherhood, his desire for his daughter to be social and meeting new people, his new book "The Power of Strangers" and putting an end to "Stranger Danger!"

It is week 101 of #DaddingHard (HOLY SH*T!) and we've just started making the conversion to 1 nap. There's A LOT of change that comes with that. Flustered schedules, afternoon crankiness, high volumes or irritability but by god I'll take it because WE GET OUR MORNING SLEEP BACK!!!!
In our guest segment this week I bring back one of my best friends on the planet for his 2nd Dad Hard appearance, Scott Rodriguez. He's now cemented his first year in the #FatherhoodBrotherhood and is loving every second! We talk about his biggest roadbumps during year 1, his daughter struggling with her mobility, raising yourself in raising your kid, the positive effect quarantine had on his fatherhood experience, fatherhood inspiring him to start his own youth sports training program and the two of us watching each other grow from 13 year old boys to 35 year old dads! One of the most fun conversations had on the pod to date.

It's week 95 of #DaddingHard and this week I pull a solo episode to do a deep dive into my daughter's horrifying month long battle with night terrors! It is legitimately one of the scariest things I've had to deal with thus far as a dad to the point where I might end up with them myself.
