Fifty million students attend public schools in the United States. Public education was stressed before the outbreak of Covid-19. Now administrators, educators, and parents are forced to innovate academic instruction, manage emotional stressors (anxiety for kids and themselves), curb education inequality, and provide social services to at-risk students. Schools provide shelter, food, healthcare, socialization, and are a respite from uncertainty. What practices exists to combat the myriad of issues homeless kids face getting a solid education within the restrictions of a pandemic? Imagine attempting to participate in online instruction through a cell phone – using public WIFI in a shelter or parking lot.
