30 MAG 2026 · On this episode of the Beyond Barriers podcast, former National Socialist Movement leader turned anti-extremism advocate Jeff Schoep sits down with author and columnist Josh Cohen to discuss Cohen’s book, William F. Buckley Jr.'s Guide to Friendship in a Polarized Era.
The conversation explores how William F. Buckley Jr. cultivated meaningful friendships with ideological opponents during one of the most politically turbulent periods in modern American history and what those relationships can teach a deeply fractured society today.
Cohen examines Buckley’s views on decency, forgiveness, humor, faith, tribalism, and intellectual seriousness, arguing that Buckley offered an antidote to the nihilism and hyper-polarization defining contemporary culture.

11 DIC 2022 · Special guest Sean Gillespie shares his incredible story. From #abuse & #trauma to a lengthy prison sentence for #hate crimes to life altering positive change. Sean’s journey will shake you to your core and stir your soul. As a former neo-Nazi skinhead and member of the white supremacist organization, Aryan Nations, Mr. Gillespie's story will take you through an incredible path from a world of hate into a world of righteous change. A former leader, recruiter, organizer, propagandist, and violent terrorist for the white supremacist and neo-Nazi movement, he promoted hate, bigotry, and racism. He was sentenced to 39yrs in the Federal prison system for a racially motivated hate crime in 2004. Mr. Gillespie spent a total of 16 years in prison, 8 of which were served in America's most secure facility, A.D.X. Super-Maximum Control Unit. Mr. Gillespie was released from prison in 2020, after winning an appeal he filed pro se. Sean got a second chance on life and has been able to overcome the mistakes he made early on. After turning his back on the white supremacist movement in 2008, Mr. Gillespie has been able to do a considerable amount of work to combat and fight hatred and extremism. He has assisted in the teaching of criminology students and written numerous articles against hatred. Mr. Gillespie was featured in the award-winning documentary series 'Indivisible: Healing Hate' (2022, Paramount Plus) narrated by Mandy Patinkin, as well as news interviews both locally and nationally.

For 25 years, Jeff Schoep was infamous for stoking the flames of division and hate, as the National Leader of America’s largest neo-Nazi party, National Socialist Movement (NSM). Through interpersonal relationships and dialogue with those he once vilified, Jeff’s life was changed forever. In 2019, Jeff left the NSM and publicly denounced the ideology he once espoused. Once America’s most notorious neo-Nazi, now a consultant for the Simon Wiesenthal Center and an inspirational speaker for Conscious Campus, Jeff Schoep tirelessly holds talks, lectures and workshops from his unique vantage point. He speaks with students, communities, and law enforcement about the dangers of hate and extremism. In 2020, he founded Beyond Barriers, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to countering extremism and helping others change their lives. He once was infamous – today, he is deadly serious about combating extremism. https://jeffschoep.com Follow Jeff Schoep: https://linktr.ee/jeffschoep

15 GEN 2022 · #BeyondBarriersPodcast hosts Jeff Schoep and Acacia Dietz interview retired police officer Anthony Beattie. In Episode 27 we discuss the relationship between police and community, school safety, and the struggles police as individuals face in both personal and professional life. Anthony has over 20 years of service in law enforcement, most at a city declining into one of the most violent in the nation. The student attack at Columbine drove training across his department, evolving their every day tactics and response. Yet he did not see these changes in the way schools respond to incidents, evidenced in Parkland. Anthony began researching acts of violence and student crisis, and spends much of his time studying security as an ASIS member and PSP applicant. Now Anthony is a co-founder of PEACE (Police Engagement And Community Excellence) and is the Protection Coordinator for ATAP Security.
