    23 GIU 2024 · Special Taylor County Programs, Ag Department Roles, Work Force, and Float Trip on the Coal This week the Major General Jim Hoyer talks with Bryan Smith, an everyday West Virginian who has been helping to make big positive changes in his Taylor County community one person at a time, ranging from his work leading Project HOP2E (Helping Our People to Eat) and contributing to a local Farmer’s Market, to leading the Adventure Club — which has put an inflatable water park on the Tygart River, rents out tubes and kayaks, holds cancer fundraising events, started a flea market, has taken over and cleaned up the Grafton City Campground, and so much more.  In our Agricultural Segment, West Virginia Commissioner of Agriculture Kent Leonhardt discusses the various roles of the department from regulator to promoter of agriculture.   Tom Susman covers a recent signing ceremony at Constellium Rolled products in Ravenswood between Constellium and WVU Parkersburg.  The participating rising seniors from high schools in Roane, Wood, Mason, and Jackson County will enter a program that upon completion will earn an associate degree and have the opportunity to be employed by the plant.   In the final segment Bo Higby talks with organizers of a float trip on the Coal River in Boone County set for the last Saturday in July.
