4 MAG 2022 · Born and raised in Punta Arenas at the southernmost tip of Chile, Alan Varela moved to the country’s capital, Santiago, before eventually coming to Boston, Massachusetts to attend college. To support his tuition, he took construction jobs that would eventually lead to specializing in civil engineering. Mr. Varela is an entrepreneur and philanthropist who enjoys fishing.
