Musical interlude by Jen's dad, Norman. Another amazing Yiddish folk song, Glick. https://www.milkenarchive.org/music/volumes/view/great-songs-of-the-american-yiddish-stage/work/glik/#lyrics
13 GEN 2022 · The unknown can be scary... but what wonder lies ahead?
"Tell me Where Can I Go" performed by my dad, Norman.
4 GEN 2022 · Change is inevitable. And it's often difficult. Join Jen as she navigates a recent "big" change in her life. This episode features another classic Yiddish track recorded by Jen's dad, Norman, in his apartment on an old "brick" style tape recorder. The song is "Di Grine Kuzine" and in pretty typical fashion, Norman made it a little medley. The lyrics for the first song can be found here... they're still appropriate... The second song has literally one lyric "Hevenu Shalom Aleichem" which means peace be upon you. The pairing of the two songs gives a peephole into the twisted humor that Jen grew up with.

29 DIC 2021 · This is a big one. Recorded by the Blue River in KCMO and at the facility where my mom lives. Recorded on the anniversary of one of mom's many health bounce backs. Recorded right after I made the leap to make a major change in my life. Recorded as I reclaim the meaning of these holidays... Recorded after we ate Chinese food and while Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince is playing in the background.... love and light and new year's hope for all

Featuring the track "Fight" written by Jen Appell. Performed by Not Sisters (with Kristina Ning on Upright Bass). The song was an easy choice for this episode. Jen crafted the song when she found out about a downturn in a friend's battle with cancer.

12 NOV 2021 · All of these episodes are personal but this one goes deep and extremely vulnerable. There comes a time when a person just has to speak their mind. Maybe I'm a little unhinged but pretty sure you would be too. **Also, for the record, in the second "chapter" I neglected to mention that I also addressed the affect closing has on the staff... rants take on their own life and when re-enacting one, it's hard to hit all of the points. Anywho, who's the humanest of humans? This girl.
**also, explicit in this episode really means that I use harsher language than usual. nothing grotesque.
