Join me discussing 1st Responder training including continuing education, updates, changes, and new training material as it comes available.

    □ What are the different accredited training brands?

American Safety Health Institute (ASHI) is a nationally accredited company. Following the same standards as the American Heart Assn (AHA), National Safety Council (NSC), and American Red Cross (ARC). Though I have been a volunteer instructor with the ARC for 23 years, I picked ASHI for my training center.

    □ Why did I chose American Safety Health Institute?

As an ASHI training center, instructors have total flexibility over course content. Required core components are taught and optional sections are added to best suit the clients needs.

    □ My job says they ONLY accept BLS for Healthcare Providers, by AHA, what can I do?

Often professional healthcare providers require BLS from the American Heart Assn. This is completely inaccurate and is not the gold standard.

The Ohio division of public safety has deemed certification from all four of these training brands meet the requirement to work as a licensed EMT/Paramedic. I can send the MOU and documents if needed, just send me an email.

The Ohio board of EMS standard requirement is Basic Life Support (BLS). So I will be discussing the myth that only AHA certification are accepted to work EMS in Ohio.

    □ So, having made it down this far on the page, thought I should share a bit about who I am.

My names Russ, I am a US Air Force veteran and I own www.buckeyeCPRtraining.com, an ASHI training center. At only 17 years old I became an instructor with the American Red Cross. In 99' I became firefighter, 3 years later I became an EMT. Many of the skills taught in class are things I perform on the street as an EMT. This provides the students with real world hands on experiences.

Some additional topics we will tackle on my Podcast radio shows will discuss:

    • The difference of the 3 agencies for certifications.

    • The laws & rules accepting ASHI by Ohios division of EMS.

    • New training methods, what is the ECCC and why does the curriculum change every 4 years.

    • How to not get scammed. Certification requires both a course work & hands on skills. Company's that claim to offer an online only course are not valid by Ohio.

    • How can you get certificated and what training program is right for what you are needing.

    • Lastly, learn what our different courses are and how to sign-up.

Apologies to apple fans, getting posted on their podcast connect page is a long process and I am an android guy. Don't feel like jumping hoops while teying to bring relevent content to everyone else. :-)
