Robert Bartholomew is a medical sociologist who published extensively on topics on the margins of society: UFOs, the science of haunted houses, popular myths and delusions, social panics, and the history of tabloid journalism. Robert began his career as a journalist for several New York State radio stations. He has published in over 60 peer-reviewed journals. Robert has been featured in a National Geographic series on modern myths and has appeared on The History Channel and Discovery Channel. He is an honorary Senior Lecturer in the Department of Psychological Medicine at the University of Auckland in New Zealand. His books include: American Intolerance: Our Dark History of Demonizing Immigrants; A Colorful History of Popular Delusions, and Outbreak! The Encyclopedia of Extraordinary Social Behavior (with Hilary Evans, 2009). He has just published 2 new books: Havana Syndrome: The Real Story Behind the Embassy Mystery Illness and Modern-Day Hysteria (Springer Scientific). It is co-authored with Professor Robert Baloh, a Neurologist at the UCLA Medical Center. His second work is No Maori Allowed, the first book ever written on Jim Crow racial segregation among the Indigenous Maori people in New Zealand. The book came out last month and is now in it's 3rd printing!
