As we continue to watch Haiti unravel, it's important to try to understand what is happening on the ground. Up until recently, Haiti was plagued by a suffocating amount of gang violence, so it was not hard to make the leap and think that it was street gangs who were behind the rise in violence.
However, there is more bubbling under the surface here and what might have started as roving bands of gangs on the street preying on people, has now turned into a full scale rebellion and the nation of Haiti now stands on the brink of all out civil war.
